I'm running an arcadevga on a 15hz monitor in 640x480 and without fail whenever I open a window it drops the "apply" and "cancel" buttons so far off the screen that no window moving will let me see them (or anything else down there for that matter) How to i enable panning (if thats what its called) in Xp or alternatively how can i move the window far enough up without having access to the top part of the window (the blue space) or better yet how can i get windows to leave the windows within the limits of the screen?
This is so simple but frustrating the crap out of me right now...

Well I have had this happen on multiple ocassions. I have been able to get resolutions above 640x480 and 800x600. if that will deffinatly not work there is always the tab manuver (use tab to skip from button to button) as well as having the taskbar auto-hide.
You can always hook up a pc monitor tothe avga as well and go back and forth with adjustments.

By default, Windows won't allow you to make any windows larger than your screen resoution, which means no matter how much window shuffling you cannot see those buttons.
There are tools out there to let you enable an "Extended Desktop" though, but the only ones I know about are very specific to the brand of video card (nView (http://www.nvidia.com/object/feature_nview.html) for nVidia card, HydraVision (http://www.ati.com/products/hydravision/) for ATI, etc). What kind of video card do you have?

Download the resolution tool from Ultimarc (it's the one that looks like a Galaga bee on your taskbar). You can switch to a higher resolution on the fly when you need to do something on your screen.
I also installed a wireless adapter and VNC on my cabinet. I can maintain it remotely from another PC and not have to worry about all of the resolution issues.

I find that if I hide the toolbar I can see just the tips of those buttons--enough to hit one.

I've had this happen before on my Win98 machine. In most apps, pressing Esc on the keyboard is the same as clicking Cancel, and pressing Enter on the keyboard is the same as clicking Apply.

well right now i'm counting "tab presses" to bounce between the buttons--annoying as hell. I'm surprised I thought I was just missing something but i guess i'm not the only one to have resolution issues. My method works so i' guess i'll stick to it--thanks for the feedback!

I don't have any personal experience with the ArcadeVGA card, but according to http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainf.html it's using an ATI Radeon 9200 chipset. You should be able to download and install the HydraVision tool from ATI's website to "fix" your problem.

Sometimes if you were for instance running at like 1024x768 and then switched to 640x480 at some point a window like explorer or something may be larger then the 640x480 from when the rez was bigger. In this case, you may be able to just hit the maximize button cuz this will make it fit exactly to the screen size. On the other hand... there ae some screens that are a fixed size like the windows display properties that you cant change..... You may be able to sorta grab the window and try to move it up some to reach the ok button. I have this issue too sometimes because 640x480 aint a lot of screen real estate.
