Title: NES Controllers
Post by: 2600 on April 08, 2005, 09:07:57 am
I've got a NES controller that is a little yellowish and discolored, anyone know of anything that will refresh the plastic a bit.

If not, off to EBAY and hope I don't get burned.

I've been to several Gamestops, EBGames, etc around here and nothing.  Some told me they don't carry that stuff any more.  Some told me that they were going to stop buying that stuff back in a month or two.

I did find one SNES controller for $5.99.  Looking for a few NES controllers and one SNES controller.

Unless I decide to try BYOAC's BUY/SELL/TRADE forum, then my next stop is EBay.

Oxy cleaning stuff will really help.

that sucks.  I think eventually they all will stop selling retro stuff.  It's because they have to sell to the masses...and their "mass" are teenagers.  Teenagers want PS2/XBox, etc.

There used to be a Gamers X-Change around here that only sold old stuff (well, mostly).  They even sold Atari 2600's when they got them...but, they went out of business.  :-(

looks like eBay is your best shot....oh, check Goodwill too...I just bought a WORKING NES and Controllers from a salvage store for $7.00
hehehe

Nothing will help, the plastic is oxidized.  It's not on the plastic, it's IN the plastic.  Paint it a cool color.

I cleaned up an old NES with one of those mr Clean Magic Erasers.  Did a great job.  Not too awfully expensive.  Give it a shot.

That's conventional wisdom. It's the usual experience.

But it's not always true.
My SNES was pretty yellowed. Just took a good whack at it with rubbing alcohol and it's as gray as when it was rolled off the line.
