A couple of weeks ago my dad and I started building a pair of bar-style booths.
We really needed more seating in the gameroom, plus a good place to sit food and drinks. I'd been wanting to get some booths for awhile, but they were costly, hard to find the way I wanted them, etc...
Ideally I will also build a raised platform to sit them on, which will also cover up some missing carpet on my floor (I removed some cabinets and the carpet didn't go up underneath them).
I haven't built a table yet. I'm trying to decide how to build it (I have two major options I'm considering).
I tried to match the stain to my oak pool table, and it is similar but of course it is not exact.
Anyway, here are a couple of pics.

Looks really terrific. I'm not a fan of cocktails... but, this one (and the setting) almost makes me want one ! :)

That's the best setup I've seen for a cocktail. Awesome booths. I would love to get some dimensions for them if you don't mind sharing?

Yeah Very nice ;D ;D
I too would like to get some dimensions if you dont mind :D

How are they to sit in? Are they comfortable or does the wood take its toll on your backside?
And how about the backs? They look very... uh... upright. Or do you even lean back in them or do you end up sitting propped forward on the edge (looking down onto the cocktail)?
Did you come up with the plans/dimensions yourself or are they based on something else?

looks good, but you should add some cushins to sit on......

Hey guys,
Thanks for the compliments and the input on the booths. You all bring up a lot of points that I considered when building them.
It's ironic that a couple of you mention the cocktail game, as that is just a temporary setup. I am going to build a large table which would consume all the space between the seats and give plenty of space for food and drinks.
As far as the dims... I made them 48" wide because that is what would fit in the spot. It is also a pretty standard size. I made them about 42" tall, the seat around 18" tall and about 22" deep. This was based on the AMC website:
http://restaurantbooths.com/cgi-bin/shop.cgi/Summary/$session_id
There are some outer dims on their booths on that website. They have a couple of similar booths, which I based the design loosely. Check out their Outback Steakhouse booths in the example section, these are probably the closest to what I built.
As far as comfort. I would like to have padded seats, but I knew that would probably be another project. And I noticed some of the booths at restaurants aren't padded. So I tried to make them as comfortable as possible, but be easy to add a cushion to later. I curved the seat bottoms slightly (the wood is split and has a seam going longways) so they would be more comfortable. I might add cushions eventually, but honestly they are quite comfortable as-is. That said, I have only sat on them for short periods at a time. We'll see if anyone complains after sitting there for a couple of hours.
The backs are perfect. When drawing it up, I was afraid I had layed the backs down TOO much. If you look at the similar booths on AMC's website, the backs are nearly upright. Mine are titled back about 3 inches or so. This is about as low as you'd want them, anything more and you'd feel like you were reclining or slouching too much. I noticed some booths in a restaurant recently were straight up, but it was noticable and not perfectly comfortable.
I'm real happy with the feel and function of the booths. My biggest complaint right now is the lack of a big table and the lack of a platform to cover the missing carpet on the floor. :(

I finally got around to making a table for my booth seats in the gameroom.

Now show pics of the rest of your game room!

Very nice mame cab.. At first glance it looked like the Virtua racer seats were in front of your mame and I was like AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
How did you come about having a framed Galaga Sideart.
Did you make it from a scan?
Just interested...
Bravo!

Fantastic -- I love it.
This site just keeps my "to do" list full and my free time empty. :)

Thanks!!
Those are just prints my brother made on a large format plotter on glossy photo paper. The artwork came from the Vector Arcade Artwork library. I had him print up a bunch of stuff one time, for some of my games and also just to hang on the wall. The quality is super, but the problem is that when I give him something to print, he does it when convenient, which usually means it takes a LONG time for him to get to it. :)
