is it even possible to beat the world records in this game? or even come close? if so, HOW? my arm hurts, i need to go lie down.
-
there's the "pencil" or "spoon" trick...
-
Play it with your trackball. You'll find it to be a lot easier, although I dunno if that'll make reaching world-record levels easier, your arm won't hurt so friggen much. I H - A - T - E playing T&F with the buttons.

It's so easy to beat the WR in Track and Field. You need to practice the 2 or 3 finger technique. That is using 2 or 3 fingers to hit the buttons.

I've got a trick for track and field that I have been using since I was a kid playing it in the arcade. You start by holding your first finger to the button,
tighten your bicep until your whole arm and finger starts vibrating. I can get world records effortlessly. It sounds weird but it works and it is not a cheat because you are not using any foreign objects to play the game. Give it a try you might be able to do it. I've never seen anyone else try it like this but if you can get it down you will have all the records. 8)

I've been hitting the one run button, which gives me results enough to cycle through the game, but nothing amamzing. When I attempt alternating the two run buttons, the results are pathetic at best. Especially when doing long jump and javelin, do you use two buttons here? ??? I love the game it just really pisses me off, thats all.

I swear this is how I play track and field. If I could stream video I would show you. That wasn't some attempt at an april fools joke. It sounds kinda weird but you would have to see it in person to understand what I mean.

Let me explain this better so you don't think I'm nuts. Just try this not even playing the game, I want you to try and tighten every muscle in one of your arms all at once. When you do you will notice that your arm will start shaking like a fast vibration, now if you can learn to use this you can apply it to Track and Field. Like I said I have been doing it since I was a kid and I'm telling you I have all the world records. It sounds crazy but it works. Once you have tightened all the muscles in your arm and it starts to shake try and put your pointer finger to one of the buttons and try it. Once you get it to work you will notice the button will get a very fast action to it from your arm shaking, and the speed of the vibration from your arm is much faster then you could push the button regularly. Try it you won't be disappointed.

With the buttons, WR'S are possible. Just make sure you are alternating buttons back and forth. With my mame machine, I mapped the run buttons out to the joystick and bobble the joy back and forth and it makes for incredible WR'S. We can run the dash in under 8 seconds. Same game, different application.

Mebbe I'm just misunderestistanding you, but you spoke of the buttons first, then proceeded to tell us how you mapped the buttons to the joystick.
Are you referring to the joystick as your buttons, or what? You Engrish goodly not me for.

Originally, T and F used pushbuttons for the "run" action.

GG, I'd find it hard to run shaking my joystick, but that's another story ;D
I got that he is using the joystick for the run buttons, but that there quote attributed to him is then either fingers too large and he mashed the wrong keys or forgot to mash the RIGHT keys.....or else he's as disonflusteraterest as most folks should be trying to figure out what he means ;)

Seems pretty crystal to me....
