Title: Simultaneous 2 player games that use 4 way joysticks
Post by: Bones on March 19, 2005, 07:38:46 am
Does anyone know of any simultaneous 2 player games that use 4-way joysticks and if there are any titles, how many buttons are used?

I have found zero! (Uo Poko aside which can be played properly using 8-way.)

Can anyone advise differently?

Karate Champ.

Specifically KC uses 2-4 way sticks per player.

Wizard of Wor. (Technically uses 9-way sticks, but no one has those (4-way sticks with 2 levels of sensitivity on each direction).

The entire Mr. Driller series (not yet in Mame).
Tetris (most versions).
Bloxeed.
A lot of other puzzle games.

And Uo Poko is actually an 8-way game, not 4-way like was previously thought, as you can roll the joystick around the circle back to up in order to let the chain back up again.

Thanks guys.

My franken panel has been designed to play Karate Champ with a 4-way joystick then 3 buttons (for other 4-way games) and then another 4-way joystick (players 2) all in a row.

I wanted to know if there was any good reason to give the player 2 joystick a button or two.
