Title: What sort of J-stick on these systems?

Did the n64 use a 49 way joystick? Or was it 8? What about the Dreamcast?

They were full analog on both N64 & Dreamcast.

Well, if I had only taken the time to read a certain Database, on a certain popular website that sponsors a certain msg board... I would have found the answers I was looking for.  ::)

I would like to have a machine that runs just about anything, including N64, and eventually DC. I would suppose then, 49 ways for all players on the CP would be a necessity.

Analog buttons would be needed to if you want to play certain xbox and PS2 games.  You'd also need 2 analog and 1 digital joystick per player.  Pretty soon you'll come to the conclusion that a single cab/panel to play every single console is not a good idea afterall.

Maybe you'd be better off with something like the quasicade control panel...has analog and digital and support all the modern consoles (not sure about N64).

There is no Xbox game that requires analog buttons, and the kind of console games that require the analog sticks... Why would you want to play them on an arcade cabinet anyway?

That quasicade thing looks horrendous. Even aside from the looks though... The main 7 button layout is arched the wrong way, which seems like it would be very uncomfortable for lengthy play.

First of all, why the hell wouldn't you want a cab that plays everything under the sun? I'm not interested in a dedicated cab. I want a skeleton key to all my favorite games.

I would agree some what about consoles in a arcade but...
I  can not sit that long. I do not know why. I will start on the couch and before I know it, I have scooted down onto the floor.
after a while my butt is numb and so are my legs.
that's when I realise I have even got off the couch.
I weigh in at 211 lbs. I like my cabs and my bar stools. I can sit in them for hrs.
I do not scoot on the floor then.
that is why I watch the ball games in the kitchen . I stay put in those chairs also.
When I visit people I tend to stand the whole time.
I work on my feet at the factory and being ex military I am used to standing for hrs.
its just me though. a normal person likes to sit.
