In the early stages of building a 'Jungle Hunt' themed Bartop Cabinet, my 6 y/o daughters favorite game.
Calling it 'Jungle Mame'.
-
WOW! Looks sharp! Can't wait to see more pics! :)
What did you cut the MDF with?
-
Table Saw/Circular Saw for the straight cuts.
-
this is gonna be a SWEET bartop!
I love those cabinets! Build me one! :D
-
Holy Crap! Don't lift the bar too high! I'm feeling my way on this project :o
Cheers ;)
-
Good start. It's going to look great when finished. :)
-
Ooh Im starting to look into Bartops! This looks really "smooth" ;) I like, I like. Nicely done
-
Are you going to try and do a Taito style side art on there? Or more of a JH type?
Looks sharp. Taito is my favorite cabinet.

I like the shape of that. Are you gonna add a bezel and glass when you get that far? Once you get everything done up are you gonna release some plans?

Yes. Will have a black cardboard bezel(as in Tailgunners tutorial) and tinted glass. Still waiting on the artwork and metal CP.
Doing full plans was not part of the project, however It wouldn't be difficult to measure up if someone wanted dims.

Ultimarc parts, new slot cutter, cp, fans, grills etc are now in my custody.
Have cut the final mdf parts and test fit them. Also test fit the raw 3mm(about 1/8") metal cp.
Time to pull apart the dry assembly for painting.

Started my holidays yesterday ..

That looks cool. I like the green. Is the paint oil based? It looks like it with the reflection. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/Themes/classic/images/post/thumbup.gif)
-
Yep, Oil Based Gloss, applied with a quality foam roller.
-
that looks awesome! even the green looks very nice. when you mentioned it in a previous post i got a picture of a much worse looking green but thats nice what you have on there.
quick question, whats the footprint like? meaning how deep and wide is the machine? height is not a big deal for me but the other two measurments have always kept me from making a bartop.
-
That looks sweet!
My next project is a bartop... well right after the upright is done.... and maybe after the jukebox ;D
Did you order the metal CP, or did You BYO (Bend Your Own)?

Thanks :D
Just came back from a week out of town. Received email to come and pick up artwork.
Time to finish this little thing!
-
Alright..picked up artwork yesterday before work.
Happy with the result @ this stage.
-
Just a quick update.
Here's the CP with CPO applied and populated....
-
Interesting idea of going with ambidextrous joysticks instead of buttons. That paint job looks great too.

Wanted to make sure I could play some of my favorites.. ie Robotron, Black Widow, Karate Champ etc

when you say the CPO was covered in 'tough textured laminate' can you elaborate?
i want to do a custom CPO for an upcoming project but don't want to do a plexi overlay.
any info on the material used would be helpful.
thx.

I am unaware of the one-sided laminate process, however am going there for another job in about and hour on my way to work and will get more details on the process.
All I know at this stage is that the cpo was printed on High Quality Kodak Vinyl and then the top side laminated with a slight textured finish, much like some of the original classic cpo's. The laminate was quoted as being the same stuff they use to cover some floor related materials, hence the 'tough' tag and the textured finish (for grip)
I'll find out exact details are re-post soon
