Just starting my first cab. I'm going to build it for my younger sis - she's a Ms. PacMan freak. It's going to be a PacMan cab design, 2 player, 7 buttons each, MAME emu.
Here's the plans so far:
PacMan cab design - from plywood
some P4 / AMD computer with MAME, MAMEWAH
2 Omni-stick Prodigy joys (4way-8way switch on CP)
7 buttons per user
Player 1, 2, Coin 1, 2 buttons
I-Pac2 board **
Opti-pac board **
Ultimarc trackball and mounting plate **
NO coin door (purists - don't kill me!)
25" TV (using S-video)
** items = already purchased
Mostly classic 80's games - pacman, defender, centipede. Some fighters (hence 7 buttons), no driving, no shooting games, no spinner games. I chose Prodigy sticks because of switch on top of CP, simplicity for end users.
Custom side art, CP art, marquee. Prob even incorporate Knievel's Neon artwork http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,31417.0.html
Am I missing anything?

Jokingly, that gives me an idea. An all white cab with black T-molding. Spray painted in block letters "GeneriCade" with black paint.

I thought that too..it would be a fitting tribute to a bit o' americana from the 80's. C'mon...you know your Mom bought generic brand... ;D

Make it a pirate theme: "Arrrrrrcade"
Make it a biblical theme: "Noah's Arkade"
Make it a surrealist theme: "Cats Dancing in Soup While the Shoe Shines Bare"

Latest update: Aug 23, 2005
Finally purchased the plywood, cut out the pieces according to Saint's Project Arcade book / LuSiD design. Should be putting it together in the next few days (weeks).
Change of design plans, finally decided on a theme. This cab is going to be for my sister, who's a PEZ collector. I'm thinking of a PEZ themed cab - maybe the side art be the PEZ logo or one of the dispensers. The CP will have a border of the candies (like a dotted line around the edge).
Any suggestions?

I love it!

If it is for the sister it should be ...
SisCade
All pink with red t-molding ... :-)
-
And it costs $5 to play a game, where the first one costs a quarter.

This is exactly what I was thinking when Genericade came up. Did anyone ever actually drink this stuff?
