Hard to communicate via perspective, so this is a stab at it.

Pretend that your MGCD is mounted on the wall of the inside of the cab with the MGCD opening facing the front of the cab and the JAMMA edge facing the back of the cab.

The part of the the JAMMA edge connector that has the key (white tab thing) will go towards the bottom of where you plug into the MGCD that is the end that has the POWER wires I mentioned to you in PM.

Hope this helps,

So I cut a pin hole?  :-\

Thats what Jamma is to me...  Brick Stupid

No, do not cut anything, do not try to pull out the key (white thing) Just slip it on. The JAMMA edge connector in the MGCD simply does not have the notch. The contact where the key is on the JAMMA connector is not wired. It is there to show the orientation of the cable. One side is called solder side and the other side is called componant side.

It should just slide on and off.

Ijust looked at the picture of your harness again.

Try to pull the key out of the harness with some needle nose pliers.

I'm interested in this!  :o

How does this thing make home games into arcade games? Does it have overlay text or something? If you can Otra, I'd love to see a bunch of pix of this thing in action!

Does anyone know where these units can be bought new? They look pretty cool.

A couple people have tried to go this route before (so do a search in the forum for MGCD).  Did you read the previous thread on this?
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,31692.0.html

Bottom line is the unit is quite limited in application and requires modification to your jamma setup.  Consensus previously was that it was much cheaper (and functional) to just hack pads and VGA box.

More info on the MGCD here (you can probably email this guy in HK if they are still selling them).

A similar product is also sold here (I've herd they don't use dip switches and just update the bios every month or so).  Be carefull as I've herd of one guy having to return it because of a defect, and has been waiting over a month now.

You can but MGCD units from Cosmic Ammusements (http://home.netvigator.com/~cosmicco/). They have models for PS2, XBOX, Dreamcase. They also sell the light guns for use with the MGCD's and arcade monitors.

i'm really interested in the driving unit i saw on one of those sites. did you buy your MGCD on ebay or thru one of those links?

i'm wondering if the driving kit would work without the MGCD just to hack the controls onto arcde wheel and pedals? i'm making a dreamcast driving cab now (pics to come soon) and my main problem is the cheapness (of quality) of all the console wheels i've used, ripped apart, tried to hack, broken etc. i'm currently using the 'interact concept 4', only for its sturdy wheel (not the steerin column, and the pedals are mediocre) and ease of mounting into a cab. i basically adjusted the wheel so that the base is almost perpendicular to the wheel, then i put a bunch of screws thru the base to a 1x12 which i mounted to the sides of the cab. but i would much rather find a real arcade wheel and pedals and find a way to hack them into the dc. so far my attempts to take POTs out of one wheel and use them in another have been unsecessful. my newest idea is to use a playstation wheel with a dc adapter so i can adapt for any console and eventually get an xbox (and a ps to xbox adapter for the wheel) with burnout 3 in there. not too many people are making driving cabs around here though. any input? on the mgcd driving interface? prices? availability? etc.

thanx for your help. and i'll get some pics of my prototype console driving cab soon.
