Title: Problems with Direct3d
Post by: rerstad on February 17, 2005, 10:04:12 pm
I can run games with direct3d turned on when starting from a horizontal orientation on my cocktail cab, but if I have it on when starting games from a vertical orientation I get this error and the games fail to launch "Error creating Direct3d7 device: 8007000e, unable to start video emulation".  Any ideas to work around this?  Without it on, I'm having real problems getting some games to display full screen.

What are you using to rotate your display?  Just the normal video card drivers from Windows?  If so, that's your problem.

Yes, I get the error when using the built-in video driver.  When I use the video card (which doesn't support hardware rotation at 640x480) then I don't' get the error, but I get a screen that's very wide and skinny  top-to-bottom when using d3d (together with ALOT of frameskipping).  Not sure what would resolve those problems.

he already told you the solution....

download drivers from your card's official website rather than third-party drivers or drivers from windows.
