Title: What game am I thinking of?

I decide to dig up this old thread and modify instead making a new one.
A friend of mine is looking for a game. 
Sega Genesis.
She describes it as being just like Phelios but you're a/on a dragon instead of a Pegasus.

Any ideas?

I just recently got atari 2600 emulated on my xbox and I'm trying to find this game that we used to have. 

When you started the game or when you die and get a new life it made a sound like a rocket taking off or something.  Here's a quick mspaint drawing that hopefully can be identified...  In the picture the red thing is me and the yellow things are the bad guys and they move from right to left.

Friggin neat!  Apparently I got the colors backwards and forgot that there were more than 1 row of baddies on the first level but hey it got the job done.  Thanks Stingray!

I'd say you did a pretty admirable job of recreating the game going just from memory.

Indeed... awesome!  I played the game on Stella emulator until I bought the Activision CD for PS1.... then that until I bought my 2nd Atari 2600...

Always loved Megamania..

It's also the game my brother broke the most joysticks on....

She says that it looks right but she's almost positive that it was on the Genesis...  I can't seem to find anything that supports that though...  Was there maybe a compilation cart or something that might have included it?

As far as I can tell, the only compilation with Dragon Spirit on it is the PlayStation Namco Museum games. I'm afraid that your friend is probably just mistaken.

Though she could be talking of Dragon Saber, the sequel to Spirit. The game was designed on System 16 hardware, and if I recall, that hardware was designed by Sega to allow it's games to be easily ported to the Genesis. As far as I can tell, there's no version of the game for Genesis or Mega Drive.

You could always get the TG-16/PC Engine version.  :dunno

yeah soon as i read the post dragon spirit rang a bell becuase I had it for the TG-16 and played it all the time but it threw me off for a genesis version and while I was checking into it for you the guy above posted what it was but I am almost 100% sure it was never released for the genesis I even checked a list of all that was made in the US for genesis games and it was not their.

Well, I guess for now this is settled.  It won't be until next Friday when she comes over that we can look at it again.  She seems fairly convinced that it was on the genesis though and seeing as though she didn't have a TG-16 I tend to think it one of two things.  Either she remembers it from the arcade or there's a similar game for the genesis...
