I've been searching high and low for vector drawings of console systems.
Any idea where I might find any?
-
If you can't find any it might be an idea to get some good raster one and vector them yourself...
Frostillicus has a good guide on how to start vectoring...
-
This is a great idea. Any of us with Illustrator skills should start working on some. The part that would take time is finding photos of the systems from a similar angle (that would lead to the best results at the end though).
I may try one or two in the next couple days...
-
a couple of quick ones...
first flat color
-
then with a little shading
-
then a fun little outline version
not much time in these, I'm supposed to be working...
-
Wow! That looks great Megashock5.
I was wondering if maybe we should ask for a catagorie to be added at http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/ or somewhere to house them.
-
Like I said when you emailed me... if there's enough stuff to merrit a new category, then I'd be happy to create one. If only a few were created, I'd be inclined to add them to the Logos & Fonts category... though a name change might then be in order. There are already some iconic images in that category, and these are of a simlar vein.

Oh, and those do look excellent.
-
Very nice work.

I made (quick) vector versions of my gaming equipment:
Dreamcast, Gameboy Color
-
PS2
Gamecube
-
X-Box
Arcade (my cab is based on the centipede cabinet)

first flat color
Those do look fantastic. I'd love to see more. Did you use some sort of automated raster to vector converter or did you do that freehand?
-
^^ I basically pasted a photo into Illustrator and drew all the shapes with the pen tool on top of that. Not sure if that's how Felsir is doing it as well, but it's likely.
I've never seen an automated trace come out nearly as nice as a trace done by hand (or mouse, I suppose).

Yup, that is exactly the way I did this vector work.
I do like the style of your NES image, it looks more vibrant than my console drawings.
-
here's a new one...
-
BUMP so more people might join in...
-
OK, I guess I'll add another one...
-
If I could vectorise worth a spit, I'd be tracing up a storm, but since I can't I'll sit back and watch.
-
Yep, Sega Master System. Good guess!
-
funny thing: in Europe those consoles look completely different...
Great work though!

SMS is awesome. All my NES friends envied the SMS greatly.
-
After the Atari 400 I didn't have another console until the PS1.

My Illustrator skills are very lacking. These images have a great 3d quality to them. Something I haven't been able to acomplish with the flat arcade side art that I've messed with. Any change of providing the origional illustrator files?

Snes was different, but the Master System was the same...until they brought out the Master System 2 that is ;)
-
I have no problem sharing my Illustrator files, I'm just not sure how to upload them since they won't display in the html like the GIFs. I may be able to upload them somewhere else and post links.
-
arcade art library maybe?

-
Hey Megashock,
Great work! Still planning to upload these for the masses?
-
Yeah, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to upload them to arcade art library. Do they have a section that's fitting?
-
Homebrew is fine for now. I've been thinking about reworking the categories for a while... in the meantime, that one will work well. If you would prefer, you can just PM me with a link and I'll post them up there for you... save you some trouble.
-
Okay, uploaded all three Illustrator files into the Homebrew section.
Hopefully I'll find time to do some more systems.
-
Excellent work Megashock. Really clean and nice.... you too Felsir - as always. :) I'd love to see a 2600, 5200, Vectrex, Genesis and (most of all) Colecovision. Mebbe I'll jump in down the road when my other projects are finished but I've gotta be the community's SLOWEST vectorizor by a long shot, so anyone else up to it please knock those out soon ;) Would LOVE them for my emulator selection buttons which, in turn I'll upload to Mahuti's site when done. FWIW
