Title: Rom Manager application
Post by: Lilwolf on February 03, 2005, 09:26:11 am
Hey, I'm just about finished with a rom manager style program that works with my frontend.

It will allow you to move roms from one to another including all additional files (images / movies / ect) and entire family (parent and all clones when selected) based on single select / category (from catver.ini and other ini type files) and any information from the listinfo or listxml from mame.

So you can move all your trackball games + dial games into a specific rom directory.  All capcom games into another... And all 2player + 6button games into another.

The trouble is it currently only works with my frontend setup.

Would anyone else be interested in using it?  Should I try and make it usable by others?  I don't want to waste my time for something I wouldn't personally use.

I usually make .bat files (http://mame.joymonkey.com) for moving vertical/horizontal roms into seperate folders; I try to update them with every Mame release but sometimes I get lazy or forget about them. When I do forget about them, I get a bunch of emails from people saying they've been waiting for an update.

So, I think this little app of yours would be pretty popular. And it'd save me from having to constantly keep those .bat files of mine up to date with Mame.  ;D

I think for other people it would it be easier just to use listgen for this?
