My understanding, based on searching the forum, is that to save high scores so they appear after exiting and re-opening a game, you have to use 'hiscore.dat'.
Can I use hiscore.dat with the DOS Emulator Vantage?
The instructions that come with hiscore.dat say, "place the hiscore.dat file in the same directory (folder) as your mame.exe"
Does this mean that hiscore.dat will only work with mame.exe?
Excuse my ignorance, I did searched this forum, but could find an answer.
Are there any separate forums around for Vantage or hiscore.dat. I did look in Google, but could find anything.

As long as I've been using VAntAGE, I never thought to check that. But I don't believe it saves the scores. I could be wrong. Try sticking the hiscore.dat file in there, it might work. I'm doubting it, but it might.

I tried hiscore.dat with Vantage, it doesnt work as you suspected Pearle.
Does anyone know any other ways of saving the High Score, specifically with Space Invaders Part II?

IT'S *PEALE* DOGONNE IT!!!!!!!
With everyone getting my name wrong, I should just change it and get it over with! ;)
As for the topic at hand...perhaps it's not meant to be. Use Mame?

Has anyone figured this out yet? Was doing a search on how to save high scores with vantage games but have not found a solution, or a defintive No it cant be accomplished. Any help appreciated. thanks!

*BUMP* Anybody prove or disprove this? Is it even possible? Or does nobody care?

I'd email Brian Lewis and ask, but he changed his email address about 4 years ago and I don't know what his current address is. Not sure if I'd want to bug him either, he left 'the emulation scene' years ago to concentrate on collecting real machines and hasn't looked back.

VAntAGE does not save high scores.

Guess thats my cue to start working on putting old version of Dos mame .36 or so on that old pc. I gotta have high scores. Thanks Peale for the info.
