Title: Dragon King Resolution
Post by: irkenInvader on January 18, 2005, 05:39:41 pm
Hi everyone,

  I hope this hasn't been asked/answered already.  I searched, but found nothing.  I have a pretty plain (read: not customized) version of Dragon King 0.99 and Mame .089.  It works great.  Or, at least, it was.  I'm not sure what happened, but somehow DK has some issues with the resolution.  Windows looks absolutely fine (Windows XP)  Also, I can run ROMs from the command line just fine.  However, when DK loads, the resolution is slightly bigger than the TV I'm using.

  This is easiest to explain on the DK startup movie/screen.  When the screen comes up, it says "The Dragon King" in a fancy font before the Front End proper is loaded.  Those words should fit well on the screen.  On my screen, however, the 'T' in the "The" in that logo is cut about halfway off (from the left edge of the screen) and that much of the screen is cut off all the way around.  Also, when the Front End is loaded, it is also cut-off the same amount, as well as any ROMs that get loaded.  Games are still very playable, but, for example, the score on the top and the number of lives on the bottom will be cut off.

  It is as if the resolution of the screen was set to 800x600, but the TV only allows about 750x550 to show.  What did I do?!

  Please Let me know any detailed information I can provide you to help diagnose this problem.

Hi irkenInvader

Have you tried modifying the resolutions settings in frontend.ini? Open this file (located at DK's main directory) with notepad and look for a section where it says something like this:

Quote
xRes= 640
YRes= 480

RefRA= 60
BitsA= 32

Change it to a valid resolution for your setup, save the file and re-run DK again. Good luck!
