I just discharged and removed my first chassis last night. It was a WGK7000 series. I was able to remove all wires cleanly since they were plugs, except one. This one was soldered from the neckboard to a silver braided rope that goes around the tube... what is that? I had to cut that one and will have to solder it back when I recap the board.

Thats the chassis ground to the frame etc.
When you are ready to reconnect, I suggest a using a quick disconnect, that way it will be easy to remove again as needed.

If I had them on hand, I likely would... :P

That's the picture tube circuit ground wire and you will definitely need to reconnect it. I use red male and female fully insulated quick disconnect terminals that I get at Home Depot for this wire. Just strip the wires and crimp on. Works like a champ.

Cool.. I'm waiting for an order of those to come in... until then, I just twisted and covered with electrical tape. I have to take the whole thing off and check some more stuff anyway since green is still bad.
