ok, im willing to do maqrquees, sideart and cp's for (nearly) free !! all you need to do is fulfill this criteria :
1. been a member for at least a month (i dont want people registering just for freebies).
2. make a donation to either (a) this site or (B) the aisia quake disaster (minimum $5) no maximum BUT BE GENEROUS though as the money is for a good cause, once you have donated send me a copy of the receipt and ill get started.
3. be patient! ill do them as quick as i can but if i have a big backlog (i dont know how popular this will be)you wll go into the list (ill tell you of your position).
5. you dont ask me to infringe copyrights, if you want me to manipulate existing art GET PERMISSION first!
4. you take a pic of the item in question when installed on your machine. (so i can have a nice catalouge of my work! :D.
what you will get for donating.
1. proper sized artwork, at 300 dpi ready to print.
(this will weigh in at around 60 meg)
im offewring to put in a lot of hard work for 2 reasons.
1. to contribute to the quake and this site.
2. to join in with the community a bit more
heres one i did for a fellow forumite.

Firstly this is very good of you to offer, and the required donations is a great idea (tho people should really donate regardless)...
I was just thinking to myself how much I hate doing artwork and I am banging my head at the wall trying to do my sideart...
Can you do vector work? The artwork style I am aiming for is the Atari early 80's line/simple shape graphics etc., rather than high-res photographic style stuff. Some examples of what I mean are: Super Sprint marquee, Missile Command sideart (not so much the rockets but the red/orange/yellow circles/squares etc.), Centipede CPO. I like the way Atari used simple coloured lines and borders in their designs. Also I want a generic non-game specific look so I guess this kindof thing would be ideal.
Cheers

Just wanted to say that Dark has been extremely helpful. His designs were right on the money and he was very easy to work with. I honestly cant complain about any of his work!

That is a very generous offer and I would guess that you would have a lot of people take you up on it.
Here are my current qualifications and let me know if I meet your criteria.
1. I only have seven posts. I have been reading the forum for a couple of months but have just recently started posting. I have ordered joysticks, trackball, spinner and buttons from slikstik and interfaces from Ultimarc. I have my cabinet cut out but not assembled. My point to all this is that I have spent a lot of time on this already and I recognize that my biggest weakness is the art portion.
2. I am making a donation to World Vision of $100 for the Asia Disaster and my company will be doubling that for a total of $300.
3. Patience is no problem.
4. I will gladly take several pictures of the finished project.
If this is acceptable to you let me know. In either event thank you for what you are doing.

darkmavis, you were right, there is a lot of stuff being posted and it is easy to get involved in several different discussions. Now, hopefully my boss won't figure out what I've been working on today ;)
I will gladly contribute to the site as well. I have received several good suggestions already along with a ton of great ideas. I'm sure as my project progresses I will be utilizing and sharing even more.
I will send you a direct message so we can start sharing ideas. Thanks!!!

Have you thought of just using the System 1 sideart? That's already vectored, it's up in the archive (here (http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=99))

How about instead of number of posts you could do it by registration days? Say they have to be registered for x number of days before making a request.
There's a *lot* of lurkers that have registered for the boards that don't post - they just read.
-
ok peale sounds good, how many days you recommend?

That's a really good point Peale.
I would love to get some art done, but my cab is so far from complete, I think it would be better to let people that have a more pressing need for it. Maybe if you are still doing this when I am in more need of it, I'll give you a ring :)
Either way, your post reminded me that I've been meaning to donate a bit to this site for all it's done... thanks. This is a really cool offer you're making.

well point ATM i only have 2 takers, one im half way thru doing,, then im onto namedos, i can put you in after that if youd like? if you want to, just drop me a PM, who knows afer u have the art u may want to finish it srtaight away :D

Additionally it's not tough for somebody to crank up 10 pointless posts in about a 15minute time period either. I agre that a "registration day" parameter is better than # of posts.
in agreement here, how long do you reckon should be enough time?

Well, I'd say that a month would probably discourage most 'freeloaders'. Heck, you gotta figure it probably takes that long to learn all the ins and outs of putting a machine together anyway.

I had considered it a while ago, but decided against it for some reason. I was hoping to make something a bit more custom, and I didn't know how the shape/size compared to my cab exactly (it is not an exact replica, I made up many of the dimensions/angles). Now I have an outline of my cab in Illustrator I can compare the two - the artwork has grown on me somewhat now, and after all the whole point of that art was to be generic as the System 1 had such different games!
Thanks :)
darkmavis: No worries, as I say good of you to make the offer all the same.

Hi, darkmavis
I wanted to know can you create artwork including a gang of mortal kombat characters on side of the cabinet. A gang of Street Fighter characters on the other side of the cainet. Then, take the two groups, put a few of MK v.s. SF for the marquee, and the rest of MK v.s. SF on the control panel.
I thought that would be the best identity, since most people normally played those two games. Add fire and lightening in the background, with gloss effect and lamenated effect would look awesome. Please respond.
Willing to follow your rules to get this accomplished.

Darkmavis, you have a pm.

Can you make a super pac man cocktail underlay???
I know the graphics are trademarked, but there is no place that i am aware of that sells them, and they are out of print, so you would not be taking any money out of NAMCO's pockets by doing this, cause i'd gladly buy one if i could.
I've seen graphics for a Ms. PacMan underlay, so you could use that as a guide and just replace the Ms PacMan graphics with the super pacman ones.
