What's the best football game for a cab for 2 or more people?
-
In my opinion, NFL Blitz for the PC is the best. You can usually find it on Ebay cheap.
-
Do you mean the first NFL Blitz for Windows or are you talking about NFL Blitz 2000 or 2001?
-
I mean the first one. Although I'm sure 2000 for the PC is good, too.
-
It's gotta be NFL Blitz (PC or MAME if you can do it) or Playchoice-10 (NES) Tecmo Bowl.
High Impact/Super High Impact and arcade Tecmo Bowl aren't too bad either.
10 Yard Fight is semi-fun too.
Wouldn't it be awesome to have those freaky ittle passing sticks for Quarterback? ;D
-
Am I the only one playing NFL Hard Yardage?
The best, of course, is Atari Football, but you need a cocktail with 2 trackballs to play it properly. ;D

10 Yard Fight all the way ;D

yea, that was my favorite in the arcade. I was disappointed to be reminded that it only plays with 2 players and in coctail mode. I remember getting blood blisters on my hands from catching my thumb on the trackball trying to outrun other people!
Best in mame for me is 10yard fight. I also have nintendo emulator in my cab and it's fun to play the super techmobowls...especially since there are a lot of hacked versions with updated rosters.

Tecmo World Cup '90 was always my favourite ;)

You wacky soccer fans... ::)

Well, yeah, if we're talking NES emulation, I *love* Tecmo Bowl. The Bears are my team. Walter Payton has a good combination of strength and speed at RB. Willie Gault can score on any given play just by running a deep route. And Dennis Gentry can return the kickoffs back all the way!
It's fun to play with the Browns because Kevin Mack (RB) is not fast at all, but as long as you play agressively with him, he can keep on running almost forever. The trick is to not give defenders a chance to dive at him. Instead, you run into them on purpose and shake the joystick. Defenders go flying off of him like gnats. :D
When I was in college, I wasted many an hour on my roommate's NES when I should have been studying. 8)

At least soccer is a game that uses your foot to kick a ball (hence "football").
NFL should be renamed "hand-egg". :)
-
Oh yeah, blood blisters from that trackball on Atari Football. I used to get those too :)
How about Windows football games other than Blitz like the Madden's , Total Pro Football, or ABC Monday Night Football. Are any of these any good on a cab?
-
Mmmmmm.... hand-egg.

Not exactly NFL accurate but Cyberball kicks @$$!

Super High Impact for Mame
Tecmo Super Bowl for NES, love the stats

Agreed. I love Cyberball. I used to have it on my Sega Genesis.
-
Oooooooh! Cyberball! Good call!
-
I don't think I've ever played Cyberball.... wasn't that a dual-screen game? Does it play well in MAME?
-
There was a single screen version and a dual screen. I believe it plays well in MAME, but I haven't tried it in a long time. It definitely plays on Gens, though.
