Title: Can anyone suggest some sideart?
Post by: subzero23 on December 08, 2004, 11:46:21 pm
I'd like some sideart for my cab with a black background that has characters from all kinds of famous games, and nothing too game or genre specific.....

You know like something that has pac-man, sub-zero, reptile (maybe different characters on each side. like pac-man + subzero on one side and then ms pac and reptile on other..just more acharacters)

I like all the mame artwork out there but the thought of putting 'mame' on my cabinet is atrocious

There's a guy named Roger that posts stuff on eBay sometimes featuring a lot of characters for pretty reasonable prices.

I'll see if I can find out what his ebay handle is.

I like the one at the bottom of this page:

This one is nice too:

I like both of those but with the first one I don't know who some of those characters are and they stand out pretty big, like all the characters in the lower right hand corner.

the second one is too genrespecific

Uh, I didn't know my artwork is used in a marquee that is selling for $65!  :-\

I would just respectfully request that it is taken down. I'm sure they'll comply.

I've been thinking about that. Two things have come to mind:

#1: I traced the artwork from a comic book cover. It was my time and labour that made this picture a vector, however I didn't create the original artwork.

#2: the seller notifies the buyers where the source images where taken from. This means that a buyer can also download the images themselves and create a similar compilation of characters.

#3: I uploaded the image myself to the vector art repository. However my intention was to have people use the artwork for free.

Concidering these points, I found that people can make their own compilation of characters for free using the resources available (the sources is mentioned by the seller). If people are willing to pay $65 for the printing service it's okay with me.  It would have been nice if the seller asked it first though.

In short: after some thought, I will not mail them to take it down.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it was from something else.

In that case, might as well forget about it, they have as much right to it as you do (none)

:)

They're charging for printing the thing, what actual graphics they stick on it is incidental really. I don't think $65 dollars is expensive really considering how much it costs to run a wide format printer. For example, the list price for a 44"x40' roll of adhesive vinyl for the thing I use at work (an Epson 9600), is like
