Title: Retrocade - Another MAME project
Post by: tbombaci on December 04, 2004, 12:37:48 am
Just finished up a Midway cabaret replica. I built it to sell at the Super Auction in San Jose this Saturday.  Everything was spare parts with the exception of the wood, T-Mold and cold cathodes.

I used 3/4 MDF primed and painted with a spray gun (I will never use a roller again) I printed the art at work. I modified the plans a bit. I used rails instead of the back brace for the control panel. I mounted two blue cold cathodes behind plexi for an eye candy effect. Turned out pretty neat.

I used a keyboard hack for the controls. I wanted to try it atleast once. I will never do it again.  Encoders are just so cheap these days, no point really in hacking a KB.

I am setting my reserve at $500 maybe too high? Maybe too low. Who knows.

I built this in three weekends.

Looks great tbombaci!

Very impressive you got it built in 3 weekends, you dont mess around.

That panel that house the cathodes gives off a real neat reflection off the screen, looks almost aquatic. Im sure youll get a real nice price for it, looks real good.

Thank you.

It sold today for $575.

A bit low, but I wasn't into it for that much to begin with.

Tom,

Very nice indeed.

Couple of questions (I appoligize if they're really dumb):

You used a spray gun to apply paint.  Wager power painter or HVLP type?

What type of paint - latex or oil based?

Did you set it up running Retrocade?

Thanks,
Jeff

I think that look great.  Love how you dont have to have a Huge side art to make the cab have some style.  Very nice

That is a nice looking cab!

This is the second one that has used the Retrocade name.  I think it is a cool name, and I hace considered using it myself, but I have kind of held off, because the name was already used for another emulator.

The more I think about it, the more I am leanig towards using it, because it fits so well!
