I ran across this artist and I like his work but I think I like the idea more than the work itself.

Sure, why not? There's not really an "effect" unless you call breaking the visual pane an effect. If that's all you want to accomplish, that's easy to do. If you expect to accomplish some sort of amazing tromp l'oel effect.... I hope you're an incredible artist.

This kind of art is called "trompe l'oeil" (which is the art world's elitist way of saying "trick of the eye").
Anyways, the point I wanted to make here is that this visual illusion only works when view from one specifc angle. Keep that in mind.

I had thought about that last night while looking at the picture.
