Title: advancemame on PAL TV
Post by: EmuHead on November 26, 2004, 09:11:35 pm
Let me ask if I have this correct - if i use advancemame with my tv will it clear up most of the v-sync issues? I tried to set up advancemame for my monitor but couldnt find the manual, will i have to set up all the resolutions independently like that for a TV? Thanks in advance!

Unfortuneately no.  PAL runs at 50Hz and almost all arcade games should run at 60Hz.  The only way to get all your games in vsync, fullscreen, no-stretch is to use either a Wellsgardner D9200 or a high resolution Multisync PC monitor.  On a typical NTSC or arcade monitor you can get most of your games in vsync, but only about half your games will be fullscreen, either games with 224 lines or games with 240 lines. On a typcial PAL monitor you can get just about 0% of your games in vsync.

I see. My TV can do 60Hz, I have been running my gamecube at 60Hz on it. I guess ill just have to fiddle a lot when my new graphics card comes. Thanks!

By the way, I may be wrong, but I don't think advancemame works with tv-out.

Im slightly confused by this. Are you saying that i should not use tv-out on my new card (which i paid for purely for this reason) and hack a cable? I was planning on using an s-video to scart converter which cost
