Half-Life 2, I like the physics, the graphics, and all the settings I have seen so far. I also prefer FPSs on the PC. Also CS:Source and all the other mods that are sure to come out.

then online play went downhill with so many 16 year olds, and the rest is history!

The free mods is what made Half-Life last so long. Also, I would say there was more "mature" players on HL then any other PS2 or Xbox game out there. Heck, I never had a problem play HL online, as I didn't have a headset to listen to the conversations.
I play Socom 2 online every couple of days and its amazing all mouthy little kids that pay that game.
I can't wait for HL2 to come out. I mean, Doom3 came out and it royally sucked. From single player gameplay to online play. HL2 will hopefully deliver on both the single player front and on the online side. I can't wait to play the new CounterStrike.

it just will.. sadly pc gaming isnt as popular as console gaming anymore.. 150 bucks, 50 for the game, and your gaming.. with a pc its 200 for this, 200 for that, 100 for this, 50 for that, 800-2000 later you have a mediocre to good gaming machine and still havent bought a game..
now, im not saying pc gaming sucks, hell im a pc gamer, but look at it from a consumer stand point..

You'll be surprised about the PC sales this Christmas time. This months PC Gamer has a good article about the increase in PC games sales. As the present console lifespan is done and the PC out performs the latest consoles on the market and various PC only games are coming out.

Half Life 2 won't even touch it in sales. I thought GTA: San Andreas would have made more money. If that can't dethrone Halo 2, then HL2 has no chance.

I think Doom 3 would have been downloaded more then Half-Life 2 will be. As Doom 3 was just a single player adventure with basic online play. But Half-Life 2 is a single player adventure, but with much better online play.
I'm buying HL2 when it comes out because I want to play online and I downloaded Doom 3 just too see what all the hype was about.
Note, I rarely purchase PC games. ;D

I did the same thing. I wanted to see if Doom III was any good. If it belw me away I was gonna buy it , instead I ended up deleting it 2 days later. I just orderd half-life 2.

Unless you don't consider light sabers to be swords, then we certainly have had swords in recent FPS's. Done very well, even.

When do you ever see companies posting first day sales numbers? I mean look at Madden, I've never seen a first day sales numbers from Madden. And it must have sold a crap load on its first day.
Don't forget... MSNBC has an "MS" infront of it... and MSNBC and Xbox are both owned by the same "MS" company......

I got the call from EB that my preorder should be in after 5pm. Which is good because I'm stuck at work too... But I'm going to be away from Wednesday evening to Monday morning... :( So I won't be playing it full time until Monday

the game requires you to register it before you can play and from what i can ascertain form alot of fan sites is the auth servers are down from traffic.
also though i dont suffer from it,, A unusually large number of people have been complaing of getting nauseaus and sick from the game..this is better known as simulator sickness. i guess the camera sway is dramatic..

Simulator sickness? Interesting... Never happened to me, but I guess we'll see when I get the game.

it appears valve forgot to mention that you need a dvd player to install the game..,
alot of people bough the retail game, and had no idea it wouldnt play on their CD-Rom drive..
Cant return software either.....so i forsee the sale of inexpensive dvd players going up :P

Wait a sec.... Halo 2 did over $100 million is sales, so that's approx 2,000,000 units on its first day. ($100,000,000 / $50/aver selling price = 2,000,000 units)

I looked for DVD set and all I can find was CD-ROM sets.. 5 CD's here I come.. Installing now!!!

Took me 3 hours from putting in the HL2 install disc to finally getting the game running last night. >:(
Would have been much faster except that all of the official forums were down last night, and the faqs online absolutely sucked.
Turns out you can't have Steam installed BEFORE you try to install HL2. That was my problem, but there was no way of knowing that beforehand.
I also REALLY dislike the needed internet connection everytime you want to play. Don't expect to go to a LAN party and play this game. I do like Steam though.

well letsa hope someone cracks this puppy and makes a no cd/dvd and no internet hack..
ive never heard of agame that required internet access to play a single layer game..
someone gonna have to make a proxy proggy to foll the game into thinking its logging into steam.
so if my internet goes out i cant play huh?

You don't need a net connection to play once activated. If you don't have a connection and start steam in will start in Offline Mode, and you can run any of the games :)

yep. :)
you can also install it on as many PC's as you wish, but can only be logged in once...now, who's to say i dont download and install the game to my friends pc and make sure he plays ONLY while the internet is offline? haha!
