Title: AdvanceMenu - How do I display snaps in correct aspect ratio?
Post by: maraxle on September 22, 2004, 10:27:50 am
I am currently configuring AdvanceMenu for use on a vertical monitor.  It works great, but one thing about it really bugs me.  I can't seem to figure out how to make the snaps (screen shots) appear in a decent aspect ratio.  Basically, all of the screen shots for vertical games look short and fat.  The horizontal games look weird too, but I can adjust the width on those somewhat.

when advancemame takes snaps, everything is taken horizontally, even if you run the game vertically and when you take a snap it will be horizntally. So to make it look good in Advmenu, you have to rotate the menu vertically and it won't be squash. Since you have a verticallly mounted monitor in your cab, have the menu setup to diaplay vertically.

The menu IS setup to display vertically, and the screenshots are squashed.

According to the documentation, that's just going to make my horizontal screen shots wider.  I'm talking about making the vertical screen shots on the vertical menu in vertical mode not look so short and fat.

I don't have any problem witht he sanps. Maybe you need to make a new snap using ADvmame. Maybe your snap are made to small. Where did your snap come from ? My snap made from Advmame, no problem, I made the preview expand to 3.0 cause it was not taking the whole screen when it was 1.15. Try it first before you do anything, it will only take you 5 seconds to change it and try it.
If it don't work, then i guess you need to make new snaps.

I have tried it with both snaps that I found in an archive somewhere and brand new ones made with Advmame 0.78.1.  What version of AdvanceMenu are you using?  Mine's 2.3.6 or so.

I am usinng an older one than yours (2.10)  but I have been looking at the 2.3.8 for my upgrade but I found BUGS and reported it to Andrea and he is fixing it with the next release, so I am going to wait for it before I completely move over to the new one.

What display mode are you using? I'm only using FULL and skip everything. I tried it with FULL_MIXED and no change in snaps, it fills up the screen Vertically or Horizontally.

I'm using LIST.
