Title: help need fast answer to chd problem
Post by: GMZombie on July 22, 2004, 06:08:56 pm
ok i have a windows 98 machine that runs arcadeos upon booting into windows. now it shows up with all the games including trhe chd game but when i go to run them it says ***.chd not found. now this is running advmame .83 dos version. i tried to run the windows version but got a error. this machine im trying to fix for a friend and dont know why they wont work in dos. the chd games that is. they will however work with mame32 .83 so it isnt a version conflict. chds have been properly changed over to the new format. they are in the correct folder for each game within the rom folder. also i was told that they look for it in the rom folder itself too so i tried that with no avail. does anybody know the answer to this problem thanx for the info

Then it's not configured right.  You must have missed something somwhere.  What is the exact error you get when trying to run the CHD game @ the command prompt?

It gives you this exact error?

Code: [Select]
kinst.chd    NOT FOUND
ERROR: required files are missing, the game cannot be run.

So, to reiterate:

1) your setup is *something* like this:

C:\MAME
     mame.exe
C:\MAME\ROMS
     kinst.zip
C:\MAME\ROMS\KINST
     kinst.chd

2) Your ROMpath in your mame.cfg is set to your ROMs folder(s)

Double check all of this.  I'm still convinced you missed something somewhere.

Edit: are you using the DOS version, or the Windows version?  There *is* a difference, a big one.
