Alright I gutted my cabinet last night and the only thing left is the monitor.
It front mounts and there are 6 screws (3 top and 3 bottom) that attach the monitor to the wood frame in the cabinet. Once I remove those what are the "safe" areas to grab to remove it??
Please bear in mind that there is hardly any space around the edges of the tube to get my fingers in it.

You have what's called a 'universal' mount style monitor. First make sure all wiring (including the ground wire/strap) is unhooked from the monitor. If your cabinet has an access door/panel on the back, then open & remove that door/panel. Get a helper to give a push on the metal framework of the monitor. Your helper should just push the monitor out enough for you to get your fingers on the top & bottom mounting brackets. Be ready to tip the face of the picture tube towards you (it's heavy so be prepared). Never push/pull/strike the neck or neckboard of the picture tube.
Have an old blanket or large piece of foam rubber nearby to set the monitor face down on. That prevents scratching the face of the glass.

Thanks Ken. Sounds basic enough and exactly the detail I was looking for.
And not to worry all wires (including the ground to the chassis) have been disconnected. I just need to get this out and then I can start sanding down the cabinet.
I'll be back when its time to figure out how to wire this sucker up ;)!
