I visited a the Ho-Chunk Casino in the Wisconsin Dells for the Memorial Day weekend and my fiance fell in love with the video slot machines. She hated when she lost all $20 in a penny slot but she kept going back for more (probably $100 total over the weekend). But I was wondering if there is a program out there that emulates these slot machines. I know that mame removed all gambling games, but I figured there is probably something out there I don't know about. The best I could find so far was some cheezey java applet.

I doub't she'd find it as fun without the money coming out. That'd kinda be like emulating the crane machine or a rock n bowl.

Sadly, I think she'll enjoy it more knowing that the stupid machine isn't taking her money. She was convinced that the game hated her because it kept taking her money.
Also, with the video slots if you get certain combos then they let you play a mini-game for more money/points (She didn't feel as bad when I told her she was losing points instead of actual money).

I was wondering this as well--I've had more than a couple people ask me if it was possible to emulate these things--as far as I knew you couldn't but maybe things have changed. There was one in vegas we played called "stampede" when you got a certain combo it whips off into a little sub-game yelling "STAMPEDE"--it was a blast. too bad it took all my money :(

There are emulators...MAGE and the fruit machine emulator. I didn't care for the fruit machine emulator, but it wasn't just my style because I haven't been exposed to fruit machines.
You could go to walmart and grab one of the Slot packages. There are some of the Newer games in there.
I am not sure that you will find what you are looking for. Those casinos make lots of money. They wouldn't be kind to anyone that started emulating the machine.
For what its worth, I am sure it could be done. If you look inside the newer games (video slots), there is nothing to them, just a tiny board, and what *looked* to be a flash drive.

these people copied the game off the slot machine and then made a emu and even have the source code of it and its a fact they payout at certain times not randomly like we think.
Still its a emu of a real slot machine :D

Thats pretty interesting but not altogether surprising considering that it is all electronic. If you play monopoly on the commodore 64 (my first encounter with bad "odds" in a program) it will decide within the first 5-10 rolls of the dice who is going to lose and who is going to win by giving one player all the go to jail's, pay bank $200 etc and the other player free parking boardwalk etc. It was actually funny.
I'm surprised there are no laws on those things regarding payout percentages etc. The golden mini machine that I got from edgedamage was removed from bars across the province for that very reason--it's payout time was set at indefinite meaning that it could take 1000 years for it to pay "70% of plays wins" great for the vendor, rip-off for the player.

those things are an utter rip-off. in australia they have become incredibly popular, partly due to an australian manufacturer which produces something like 20% of the WORLDS poker machines. cynical industry, im surprised they havent got an atm slot on the machine already. or some way for pensioners to put their cheque straight into the machine...
if you have no chance of winning money i dont know why you would want to play an emulation. but its great that emulating them has shown how rigged they are .

I'm not worried about not winning, it's the fact that my fiance cannot lose any money that excites me :)

Well im in australia and i agree that its shocking how many poker machines are around.
I am a bit surprised tho my nan would win 95% of the time when she goes out she usually wins over $100 for the night :)

For some reason i think that there is alread a ATM kinda thing built in.
I'm sure they have a card that u can and it calculates the total into your account and they take it out of your account.
altho i could be wrong :)
I think the pokies are set to let u win $2 or so then keep making u big higher to lose it.
if so it be great to work out the time it dishes out ;)

Are u gonna build 1? I was thinking of getting a old run down poker machine and then put a monitor inside with a PC but after playing the emulator it didnt seem worth it. Altho it prob be good if u found another emulator/simulator :)

I have had boards for those games. They have a payout % you can set by dipswitch.
I talked to a guy in Alabama. He said a kid took one of those radios you get a walmart and keyed it up by one of the new machines and it caused it to payout bigtime.
He took the kid in the back room and had a talk with him to find out what he was doing. He said he got the radio and found that most of his new machines would actually even go into test mode when the mike was keyed.
Video Poker machines are outlawed in TN, and most other states. You see the boards from time to time on ebay.
I have a couple of empty video poker machines I got at the auctions for cheap. I was going to cut the bottoms of them off and make them into little Jamma machines with 13" monitors to sell. Kids love them and parents pay $300 to $500 for them at the auction.

I bought my wife a Williams touch screen video slot machine "Winning Bid" ( you can own any games in TX). I have three separate boards and 5 different sets of game chips for it. It's a lot of fun and both of our families love to play it.
On the WMS machines, the percentage is set by the program chip installed and cannot be changed on the fly. You actually have to remove the chip, change it, and reset the program.
It would be interesting to have them emulated, but I really don't see that happening. You think arcade game companies have money to spend hunting down emulators? Think how much the gambling industry has!
