Hey i just found this on australia ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3945&item=6100668233&rd=1
missle command cab with nothing in it.
Is this worth saving? is it worth putting mame to play missle command if the boards arn't available around here in australia?
just got an itch to save something :)

I'd go for it. But then I love Missile Command. Not sure if I've seen a MC cabinet like that before, its not the regular sideart, but maybe its just the Australian version.
Looks like it was converted to something else; the control panel seems to be layed out for a joystick/3 button setup.

Funky cab! I love it!
If it were close to me, I'd save it. People on these boards have resurrected FAR worse.

It looks like a hack saw was taken to it.

The control panel looks a little odd in the picture as the center hole looks too small for a trackball, but it's kind of hard to tell with that picture. Missile Command had one trackball and three buttons (one fire button for each launch pad). Some may have had three on each side so that "righties" and "lefties" would feel right using it. There never were any joysticks on that panel.

I'm with ya, I like that :) I think it'd make a nifty little cabaret.
Wether to mame it or restore it to MC only though? I'd wanna check around and see if it really is just a common version from Oz, or if it is a conversion, or what it really is first

if that cab was close to me i'd jump all over it!! i think it is a great looking little cab.

The problem is trying to convice my parents as i have 3 cabinets 2 mame 1 restoring and they weren't happy when i brang the 3rd cabinet home.
I don't want this to go to waste i can see someone putting a huge monster CP onto the machine or even cutting it to show the screen at 90 degree angle not the angle it's at now.
:( i'll have to see what i can do.
Shame tho as there wouldnt be many missile command cabs left in aus most cabs were hacked or thrown away.

It's not a missle command. It's a Battlezone. A badly hacked Battlezone.

Wow! It's like it's been decapitated from its former glory.
Here's a good photo of the original (http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyerdb&subpage=flyer&id=3027&image=1)

It is actually hard to tell how much hacking has been done on that, since it is a Leisure and Allied Battlezone and not an Atari one. Notice how the step is integrated into the cab? The L&A Battlezone is not the same as the Atari one, and I can't really exactly remember all the differences.
Note, because of the cut down job, I think this is a PERFECT candidate for Mame. Stripped vector already makes it a perfect candidate, modified cabinet (making un restorable), just seals the deal.
I also have a Battlezone Mame in the works, mine has a double decker control panel though.
