That looks great!
-
Ahh I get it your from the future arent you?
That cab is wicked sick, I love the paint job and the blade grills. Silver and red go very well together.
Your website omg, thats crazy. I love the MCP reference and the dangling mouse. So much detail, fantastic.
Hell even those godzilla andy warholish portraits on your wall are killer! :)
Great job mang!
-
I love Masamune Shirow. Good choice. ;D
I like how you've broken the mold when you think of arcade cabinets. If you're going to have one in your house, you might as well trick it out with a cool theme. Defenately original. Good work. ;D
-
Those speker grills... I've seen them on someone else's project as exhaust fan covers. I like the use of Masamune Shirow artwork on the cab. Does anyone comment about the topless girl on your frontend's background? Also, where'd you get the chairs from? They look like a barstool/office chair hybrid. Great work said7!
-EDIT
Just saw your web site. Duuuuuuuuude.... :o
Like the Music. You should learn how to program. You could insert your flash animations into a custom frontend and really make your machine interface come alive. I think Director is capable of stuff like that, and I believe Emulaxian is made that way.
Awesome job, dude!
-
It is always refreshing to see a cab that breaks the mold. I love what you have done - it just kicks --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules--.
Now I need to go off an work on my next boring black box... >:(
-
Awesome work!!! :o

just one word to say "time was well employed"
realy good job, everything is really detailled and look professional.
2 question,
are you plannig to insert a bigger screen (the actual one seems a little bit lost in this huge holder)
what is producing the red glow ?
-
NIIICE !! :D
Whats teh deal with the small monitor though ???
I like the artwork too, whats it about? Anime ?
-
That is really cool!
-
Nice to see my Layout Designer put to good use! ;D (I find that funny as I used to test the program with p0rn when I was making it!!)
Great looking cab, very unique, good work! :)
-
GREAT cabinet.
I really love the design and that it really does break the mold of the "standard" arcade cabinet. The wires coming out the side are great, I love the way that looks.. Form and function.. :-D
Amazing job.

NICE !!!

Hi,
THANKS! glad you guys like it :)
When i started the project i dint know whether to do the traditional classic arcade cab but i decided to go the altenate route and try a new style.
To answer a few questions...
I do plan on upgrading the monitor. Im gonna go with a 27 inch tv. Just been a little short on funds. Maybe my tax return check will help me out :)
The red glow on the bottom is red rope light. 10 bucks at HD
Thanks for Mamewah, minwah :)
What happened to the screw connectors??
What you mean by that?
Id love to make a bad ass flash interface but i just dont have the time for that :(
The cp artwork and the marquee were made by myself in photoshop, except the shirow art i was lucky enough to find that in hi res. http://www.classicarcadegrafix.com/ Did an awesome job on my prints. I HIGHLY recommend them cheap and amazing quality. I sent my artwork on thursday and got it back by monday. Impressive!
I plan on upgrading the monitor and hacking my DC to work on the cab as well.
I will also be producing a website with the plans i used, all of the in progress pictures, and a diary and parts list. Whenever i get around to it :(
Special thanks to these forums you guys helped me out so much. And a huge thank you to militiaman he helped me out so much and he totally dealt with my "newbieness", a great guy.
p.s. thanks for all the website compliment also :) ciao.
-
That is one of the most bitchin' cabs I've ever seen. This one goes on my Top Ten list. Don't show me the pics when you get a bigger monitor. I might get a boner.
-
Very very smooth looking cabinet man. haha, reminds me of a Warhammer 40k structure or something.. *nerdiness from the past arising.* I agree with snaaake though, you gotta get a bigger monitor in there! You don't want to cheap out on the monitor, because that's going to be the main focus of your cabinet when it is being played, so if you cheap out on the one part that's the center of attention, it'll downgrade your cabinet slightly.
Btw, what exactly is the purpose of those 3 holes with the red behind them? At first I thought they were speakers grills, but I see you have some logitechs on top of the cab.
The shirow art is aweeeesoome!! If you have the link to where you got the high res, it'd be muuuuch appreciated :) I've got some decent shirow art, but some of the really good ones are lower res so I can't work with them. I used to be obsessive with his work, Ghost in the Shell has to be one of the best comics ever written, right up there with Akira.
-get a bigger monitor!! but nice cab
-
I'll say what has already been said,
NICE!!!!!!! ;D
-
I really like the direction you took with your cab! Nobody can say that you copied their design, that's for sure. Very new and fresh looking, it looks like something you might see in a present-day arcade on a brand new game. Nice work!
-
MOST impressive! That is a great website too.
-
Dude, that cab is totally pimped out!
Great job! Was the cabinet airbrushed?
Looks great!
-
Thanks again ;D
The holes on the front are speaker holes. I have a logitech 5.1 surround system in there so I mounted the rear speakers on the top. Sub is in the cabinet.
The cabinet was airbrushed. You really cant tell that well from the photos but i went for like a weathered metal plate look. Kinda like an airplane. There are tons of rivets all over the cab that are airbrushed on. When one of my friends saw it he thought they were actual screws until he got closer. Ill try and take some more detailed shots.
All i have left to do is...
- upgrade to 27 inch tv
- hook up the power switch on the CP (not sure how to go about this, any ideas?)
- hook up the volume control knob thats on the cp(top next to admin buttons)
- hack my dreamcast (mainly for MvsC2)
-
Ohh!! man!! it's soooooo impresive!!!
Like the MK dude said!!
Most Impresive
Excellent
B@d @ss CAB!!! it give's me a source of inspiration!!!
The cp layout it's superb!!
You made it like if it was a case Mod!!! with the neon lights and stuff!!
-
Holy CRAP!!! :o
I hope the alien mothership you ripped off doesn't come looking for it's MAME cab.
Very nice ;D
All you need now is a fog machine to create a more suitable sci-fi atmosphere.
Keep up the great work.
-
Its like a PC modder and cabinet builder gone mad :)
Your a cabinet building GOD ;D (... hands down one of the best cabinets ever)
-
That is one awesome cab and one AWESOME website!!!! That Rubbanecks animation is freaking hillarious!!! Talk about some talent! Good job...
-
Thanks guys!
Im so pleased that people appreciate my work (cab and web). Ill get cracking on the site soon.
-
Not much left to say that hasn't been said but -
Bravo - one of the best looking cabs I've seen (BYO or "real" ones included)
-
hook up the power switch on the CP (not sure how to go about this, any ideas?)
I wrote a tutorial on how to do it.
http://joelsgadgets.com/computeronpushbutton.html (http://joelsgadgets.com/computeronpushbutton.html)
Hope that helps your progress

Thanks a ton. That is exactly what i needed. Will this work with a flip switch like the one i have? Instead of a push button?
-

Yes that will work also.
-
Huh? ??? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what kind of switch he has, but a computer requires a momentary switch, regularly open. A flip switch doens't sound like it will work for a computer motherboard unless he's running an AT instead of ATX. Can you clarify what a flip switch is?
-
It's flip switch that has an on and off position. The kinds commmonly used for cars and airplanes.
-
You will need a momentary switch. One that does not stay on, like an arcade pushbutton. They do make toggle... umm flip switches that are momentary.
-
It's been a long time...but it looks like the time was well spent...great cab... ;D
-
that is AMAZING. i wish you would document your building process!
-
Great looking cab, really dig your website as well.
-
VERY NICE!......apparently you've been assimilated!
I really like your lighting touches....well done.
...oh yeah, I also like your fetish for big breasted women!
Great job all around!!!
MameMaster! 8)

lmao
Thanks.
Im wondering if anyone can help me out? Ive been trying to do my volume control to my cab.
I read this tutorial...
http://www.oscarcontrols.com/volume/index.shtml
But it really doesnt apply since im not using an amp. Is it possible to add a potentometer to a PC speaker cable?
Im using ligitech 5.1 speaker system and im dieing for some CP volume control. I searched but couldnt find any solutions. Anyone?
-
Nice job! I dig the choice of art.
-
Holy Cow!!! That cab is great!!!!! I love the industrial look it has, man you've got serious skills. Nice MameWAH Skin as well. ;)
-
Wow... I just checked out you're site as well. All I can say is that you are the man!!! :o
-
Thanks Mr Dood.
Very nice of you to say.
Anyone have any ideas to my volume control problem?

I take it the current volume control are on one of the speakers on top of the cab?
-
Its on the center speaker thats behind the middle front grill.
-
I don't know how you control it right now because that model of Logitech has the volume control on the mid speaker. You could solder on 2 wires to a pontiometer from the volume control on the mid and carry it up to the front, I don't see any problems with that solution.
-
That's a lot of work... A truly original machine... Nice original artwork and good theming...
Makes mine look like crap... (but there's always the next one)
Now I want to build my own instead of modify!!!
