It's been about 1 year since I completed my first MAME cabinet, so it's about time for me to start #2. I'm leaning more towards a fighter type cabinet, and have decided to use a 25" television for my monitor. I've tried several different sources, expecting there to be a wide variety to choose from, only to be surprised by the fact that there were only 10 or so listed on EBay (most requesting local pickup only). I then turned to the local "want adds", and found 0! Are they really becoming that rare? Are there any suggestions as to places I can pick one up? If by chance anyone knows a place to get one in Utah (there aren't many of us out there), that would be great.

I don't know about 25" tv's, but Toshiba makes a 24" flat screen tv, model #24AF43.
I'm not sure about this particular model, but toshiba makes tv's that auto power on after power failure, 27ac33?? not sure on the model #... If this model does too, that may be something that you'd be interested in also.
They sell the 24AF43 at random bestbuys if you wan't to check it out.

That's something to consider, though it's much more fancy than I need for a dedicated MAME cabinet. I'm hoping to find an older model that isn't a flat screen, as it would look a little more authentic.

Are you looking for a 25" TV tube to use with an arcade monitor chassis? I have a perfectly good 26" tube taking up space in my garage, it just needs a compatible chassis like the www.8liners.com ones to use with it to make a beautiful arcade monitor. :)

Quite possibly. I'll admit, you will have to give me a little more info on how all that is done, as I haven't done much with tubes, etc. How much would everything cost?

I've done a little searching to find out more about going this route, and I had some questions. To my understanding, this basically converts a television to an arcade monitor. One of the main reasons I was going with a televsion for my display is because I will be playing quite a few console games on the new cab. Will I be able to with going with a converted television?

Not sure if you have pawnshops in you state, we have lots of them in TX .
I bought a 25in Zenith for about $140 for the kids room.
The manual and remote were still in the plastic bag.
So it was pretty new.
Best of luck.

You live in Utah, huh? Why not head down to the DI? You think you're too good or something?!

No, I'd be thrilled to find a functioning 25" television at the DI, but it doesn't seam likely. :) If they do in fact have them there, I will pick one up first chance I get.
