Title: Slow Down problems due to Video Card?
Post by: philjones2000 on April 16, 2004, 05:45:54 am
Hi

I have had the machine I intend on using in my cab up and working. It is only a small amd k6/2 500mhz with 256mb of ram but I only really want to play old-ish games.

It seemed able to cope alright when I had it running on the monitor, but now I have changed to the TV using S-Video, I notice that there is a lot of slow down.

My video card is a Radeon 7000 32mb PCI.

Questions:

Is it my video card or am I imagining it?

What is the best way of getting rid of the problem?

Option 1: Upgrade motherboard, processor

Option 2: Get arcadevga card and run it into scart socket

Option 3: Make my own vga to scart cable as mentioned in other threads (would this solve problem?)

Option 4: Change other settings/older versions of mame etc?

Or a combination?

Money is an issue but if it needs uprgrading or arcade vga then so be it!

Thanks

Phil

I have a Sapphire Radeon 7000 with tv out PCI card and it works perfect for me on a 633 mhz, 384 mb comp...

It worked pefect on my 200 mhz 64 mb ram mame comp too... You dont need to install the software that comes with it, just the drivers :)

Did you get that yellow thing that plugs into the s-video port enabling you to use component ? I use that.... Kick ass picture.

Interesting!

What mame version are you using?
