Title: need help getting rid of sound selection in mame36
Post by: crsdawg on April 16, 2004, 01:22:27 am
i'm using an older comp and want to use mame .36 for speed reasons. i've got it running fine but the initial dos window that pops up for mame has a selection for what kind of sound hardware is being used. if possible i'd really like to get rid of this.

is there a command i can tell the fe to execute that will make this choice for me? or some other way i can get rid of this. i want the game to boot up without having to push any buttons. i can get this by using a newer version of mame, but then game play is much slower and it will cut into how many games are playable on this system.

using mamewah, pent. II 350, mame .36 final

thanks

Yes.  Go into the MAME config file and set the default sound value.  I think it is set to -1 by default.

thanks that did the trick, although i think i've given up on mamewah with this comp and the older version of mame. using game launcher now with better results, just not so much eye candy.
