Just wanted to know what cab style do you dislike the most, for me its those wood grain Pacman cabs

x-arcade "cab" wins the thread for free :P

Paige will be mad at me, but after seeing it, the Atari Basketball cab strikes me as an ugly cab design. Surprising as Atari cabs tend to be distinctive, good looking cabs. That one is certainly distinctive, and I agree with him about it being a good MAME frankenpanel cab canidate, but given the choice between the cab and whatever it's designer was smoking when they came up with it, I'd rather have some of the latter. ;)

for me its those cabaret cabs--great space savers for sure but they just don't look like arcade cabinets to me--sort of half assed..

Hee hee. Yeah, Atari's 70s cabinets are rather distinctive looking. In the case of Atari Basketball they needed a massive control panel in order for two people to be able to wail on those 4" trackballs at the same time.
It does look a bit better when it is actually put together.
My votes?
Xenophobe ("MONITOR ON A STICK").
Space Firebird mini (these Sega minis were great for Turbo and Monaco GP, not so hot for joystick games).
27" DDR and Pump machines (monitor too small for that kind of game).
Bally-Sente Sac-I cabinet (the big metal monster, incredibly heavy and bulky, and offers nothing special for all that bulk).

i had a xenophobe cab that was converted into a blood bros. and you are right it was the ugliest cab i have ever had and also the heaviest. that thing weight a ton.

I always thought the Gauntlet cab looked like a giant cabaret... no overhang on the marquee, just a giant CP with a monitor going to a point at the top. It's a very functional design I'm sure, but not attractive to me.

Those gigantic ones with every possible controller on the panel. Way too busy, like a game of Strikers 1945 III.
Or maybe it's just the controllers. Then again I can't talk.
