If not....then.....me not know. :)

Yeah, give me a link to a reasonably credible, free test I can take over the internet and I'll vote.
-
I was professionally tested at the age of 8. I am not going to reveal the results here, although I did submit my vote.

this one worked for me, gave me a result within 3 of what I had been professionally tested at, but YMMV.

135....Hey....I thought I was smarter than that!!! :P
Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others -- and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.
I wish there were some way to go back and check my answers. I'd like to see which ones I thought I knew, but got wrong; I'd especially like to see the answers to the couple questions that just plain had be stumped.
-
139 the last time I took one of those I.Q. profiles.
-
It's the thing on my stereo that lets me change the levels, DUH! ;D
Wait, does that drop my score? I should prolley take that test and see if I should start wearing my helmet in public again.
*edit*
okay, here. 133
I've GOT to believe that site is wrong. Check out the last line. Proof/pudding, yada yada. lol
"Your Intellectual Type is Facts Curator. This means you are highly intelligent and have picked up an impressive and unique collection of facts and figures over the years. You've got a remarkable vocabulary and exceptional math skills

My IQ is 140...that coupled with an extreme lack of motivation and fear of clowns has gotten me a life in serious need of repair. Oh, just kidding about the clowns....unless they have those big floppy feet.
I really should have achieved more...I think I'll order those Tony Robbins tapes...tomorrow maybe...
...gotta cry now. ;D
-
Well, I AM quite stupid... I'll go with 101.

Hmm, I kind of figured the average BYOAC member was on the intelligent side. This poll would confirm that (provided people are being honest which is, of course, impossible to tell).
-
It makes sense. It's not like we are just a random sampling of people. Building an arcade cabinet requires a combination of carpentry, understanding of electrical properties and wiring, computer hardware and computer software configuration skills, among others. It takes someone who's pretty talented or at least confident in their ability to quickly learn new skills to even start, let alone complete such a project.
The people who frequent these message boards are not simply people who would like to own a MAME cab; they are (for the most part) people who have built or are building one. That's a pretty significant leap, and it's probably one that is often tied closely to a person's I.Q.
I imagine a similar above average phenomenon would exist in many other settings such as message boards populated by doctors, lawyers, professors, grad students, etc.

I just took it again, intentionally getting things wrong. I scored a 75.
Your IQ score is 75
This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Tickle's Classic IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here.
During the test, you answered four different types of questions

133 according to this thing...
We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Precision Processor.
This means you're exceptionally good at discovering quick solutions to problems, especially ones that involve math or logic. You're also resourceful and able to think on your feet. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.
anyone know where that is in the grand scheme of things--am I dunce or just average?
-
The problem with these online tests is fourfold.
First off is that they are too short. Even Einstein could have missed one on that short test, yet he might have completed a harder 1000 question test missing only 3 or four of them.
Secondly, they can't even begin to address all the areas that an in-person test can address.
Thirdly (and I agree with this), many people say that you cannot accurately give an IQ test to an adult, as their experience and education get in the way. I certainly know my own experience and education affected many of the answers on the online test we are all taking.
Finally, the online tests max out at a fairly low score. Granted this will not be an issue with most people, but it will be for some. I know when I was tested I took harder and harder tests for several days before they finally said I was finished.
-
My wife gives IQ tests at her school every year to test for "gifted" students. I took one a couple years ago, best I remember it took about an hour. 146. Never taken one of the online tests.

Paige hit it on the nose -
Not to mention, a good test will test for time. A genuis can figure ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- out faster.
The particular test everyone is taking is extremely retarded. Many of the questions are famous quotations. If you don't know the quote, then you don't know the right answer. Stupid to use "trueisms" on an IQ test. I give that site an IQ rating of 35.
-
Well, those online IQ test might be crap. My 139 was when I took the test in college about 10 years back. Online says I'm around 165 (after taking a LONG TIME looking over the questions) I mean, after having 2 kids and watching Barney day in and day out, I would think my brain would be mush and my IQ in the basement......
"......I love you.... you love me...... AH MAN!!! THE SONG, THE SONG !!! MOMMY MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!"

my score is 126...
I guess I'm "below average" here....
:P :P :P
Congratulations, hyiu!

These online IQ test sites just want your money. They give your so-called IQ score back, but then offer you an "Intelligence profile" or something similar, but for a fee.
-
I think that IQ tests are really annoying and somewhat meaningless. The SAT, ACT and GRE are IQ tests in disgiuse. So are Microsoft interviews.
-
No Negative values? ;D

I sold my brain recently to e-bay to collect some money for my cab so it's kinda difficult to think right now... ;D

I left you negative feedback over that.
When I buy something on e-bay I expect it to work.

I did the test last week, got 135 and was also rated Precision Processor. I've never done a 'real' test tho...

I posted this in another thread, and someone jokingly suggested that we combine that thread with this one. I thought it was a great idea.
Go here: www.politicalcompass.org
and take the test. It takes about five minutes. It's extremely simple. You just read a statement and choose whether you Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree or Strongly Disagree with it. At the end of the test you get mapped on a grid telling how far left/right you are on the political spectrum, both socially and economically. It also shows you how you compare with famous figures such as George W. Bush and Winston Churchill.
Let's see what the correllation is between I.Q. and political ideology ;)
