Title: Help with griffin powermate
Post by: reko19 on May 15, 2026, 08:22:38 am
Hi everyone.  I have been using a powermate for a very long time successfully with Windows 10. Recently, I am guessing after an update, it stopped working. I am running PowerMate_v2.0.1. For some reason it is not listed under USB input devices, it is listed on COM5. When I try to update the driver, it is telling me that the best driver is already installed. I tried pointing to System32 folder, griffin folder, etc. with no luck.  Followed all recommended steps such as unplugging, uninstalling, etc. with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

to answer my own question:
Download Zadig. Open Zadig, go to the top menu, and select Options -> Show All Devices.
In the main dropdown menu, select Griffin PowerMate.
In the target driver box, make sure WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385) is selected.
Click Replace Driver or Install Driver.
Connect the PowerMate to your Windows 10 PC.
Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
Look for the PowerMate. It might be under Human Interface Devices, Universal Serial Bus controllers, or under Other Devices with a yellow exclamation mark.
Right-click it and choose Update driver.
Select Browse my computer for drivers.
Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
You may have to uncheck the box that says "Show compatible hardware".
In the left column, scroll down and select (Standard system devices) or Microsoft.
In the right column, look for USB Input Device.
Click Next. Windows will warn you that the driver might not be compatible. Click Yes to force it.

hopefully it saves someone hours of frustration
