Title: Updating GroovyMAME from 0.246 to 0.285
Post by: thulsadoom on February 18, 2026, 08:55:57 am
Hey everyone! I’m getting ready to update GroovyMAME from 0.246 to 0.285.

I remember completely messing up my original Windows 7 install a few times when I was setting up EDID emulation, so I’m a little cautious this time around.

Right now, my setup works perfectly...correct resolutions, "Test Mode Windows 7" at the bottom right of the screen, everything running smoothly. I mainly just want to update to the latest version (and finally be able to play Primal Rage 2).

My question is:
Can I just move the new GroovyMAME folder, add my roms to it, create a fresh "mame.ini" file through command line and leave the rest alone?

OR

Do I need to redo all of that setup again?

Reinstall CRT EmuDriver?

Run VMMaker and reinstall modelines/scanlines?

Reconfigure EDID emulation?

I’m sure it’s easier than it sounds, but I really don’t want to mess it up and have to start from scratch again.

I’d truly appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

Hi thulsadoom,

No need to redo the setup at all. Just download the groovymame package from my site, unzip to a new folder, move the roms, and edit the provided mame.ini (inside the new unzipped folder) with your own settings.
