Hi all,
I recently acquired a Virtua Striker 2 arcade cabinet that is wired and configured to connect to a Sega Model 3 board from the original game.
This cabinet has a Nanao MS9-29 chassis and the monitor is a Hitachi A68KSA30X.
The cabinet was made in England but was imported to Spain, where it has been operating since around 1997–1998.
Since the original Sega Model 3 board wasn't included, my plan is to set up a Windows 11 PC running Hyperspin, and launch emulators for Sega Model 2 and Supermodel (for Sega Model 3) through Hyperspin, outputting at 24 kHz native resolution, with the chassis frequency jumper fixed at 24 kHz.
The PC is a Ryzen 5 3600 with an ATI Radeon HD4890 graphics card (with 2 DVI outputs and 1 S-Video). It's not a problem if I need to buy another graphics card, but it would be great if I could use this one.
As for the video cable coming from the chassis, it has a plug that originally connected to the Sega Model 3 board. The idea is to change that connector to DVI-A or DVI-I for compatibility with the graphics card.
With Calamity drivers, is there any way to configure this perfectly?
Is there anything I should be aware of, or do you see any initial incompatibilities with this project?

Besides windows 11 you are good to go. Go for Windows 10.
Also I would recommend a HD7890 for Supermodel.
Desktop will probably run in 1024x768 interlaced. That might flicker a bit. Besides that you really only need one more mode which is 496x384. Make sure to set the emulators to that resolution.

Thank you very much, Endprodukt. I will follow your advice to avoid any issues. I'm going to install Windows 10 and look for the HD7890 graphics card.
I do have one doubt regarding the video connector:
Currently, I have the end of the video cable plug that was connected to the SEGA Model 3 board. That is, an RGBHV cable. I need to modify this connector to DVI. I understand there are different types of DVI plugs depending on whether we want analog, digital, or both.
I’d also like to ask whether it would make sense to modify the cable to end in VGA and then use a VGA to DVI adapter, or if that would result in a loss of quality or wouldn’t make sense due to any synchronization issues.
Which one would be the most suitable for connecting it to the HD7890 to avoid synchronization problems?

In your case, since you don't have a VGA input on your chassis, you will also need a Video Amplifier. For ease of use I'd go the Ultimarc Video Amplifier route which let's you connect the pc to the amp via VGA (use a VGA-DVI adapter on the other side! I do that on all my machines for many years and never had problems, rather had problems with VGA-DVI cables).

Read the instructions from Ultimarc carefully. You connect your chassis via the output terminals then. Super easy. They also sell the adapter I think. If you have any questions hit me up.

By the moment I have found an ATI Radeon HD7870, do you think it will work good? There is not any HD7890 available just now...
