Title: D3D failed - New Install
Post by: Alaska on December 20, 2024, 04:40:18 pm
I wiped an old computer and reinstalled Windows 7. I am using an AMD Radeon R7 250 card. I downloaded the new GroovyMAME 272. Prior to running MAME I have installed C++ and DirectX 9. I created a .ini using cmd  mame.exe -cc. When I attempt to run mame.exe through cmd prompt I get the error 'Direct 3D: Unable to initialize Direct3D 9Ex. Initializing video module d3d failed, falling back to bgfx. Exception at EIO=all 0s <not found>: ACCESS VIOLATION .... and then additional output regarding write memory or Stack crawl errors.

Any help would be appreciated. The end game is to get this connected to my old WG7000 monitor using CRTEmudrivers.

Figured I would reply just in case someone else has the issue. For whatever reason, windows update wouldn't initiate. I had to manually download the windows update installer and update from there. That obviously remedied the d3d issues.

After that went through the updated instructions and now have most everything working smoothly on an old R7 250 card and WG7000
