Hi
I'm having a slight problem with one of my GM PC's.
I'm getting random stutters in games , I think the PC should be powerful enough.
Windows 10
Q9550 (Stock)
HD 7570
4gb Ram
Super Resolutions
I've tested games in FBNeo and I get no stutters so only seems to be mame.
Could using native resolutions help take a bit of the strain off the CPU ?
Please help.
Thanks
I'm running it through a JPAC on a Sega Astro City and I'm playing Guwange.

Not surprising since mame is usually the most demanding emulator for any given rom. I'm also not able to run games like Guwange perfectly smooth, on an Intel E8400.

Hi
I used to run groovymame on a e8500 4gb and XP and I never had any performance issues running CPS2 but this system Q9550 (now OC'ed to 3.4ghz) 4gb and Win 10 I'm having stutters with CPS2 , I thought these specs would be fine for mame.
This is a bummer , I was running flycast earlier and that seemed fine too.

OK, if I was going to upgrade what would people recommend without paying a fortune ?
Also could I just swap out the CPU/MB and Ram easily without too much faffing around ?
Thanks

Hi , still getting an issue with this , ive tried I5 3470 and I5 4590 and still get the stutters on 2 different computers , ive also updated mame to the latest version and it still happens.
Would a Ryzen 5 2600x be any good ? I use the same gpu in both computers , wouldnt be that would it ? HD 7570.
Im suprised that mame is this demanding now , back when i had mame 0.146 i ran it fine on a E8500 / HD 4350
Thanks

It is not CPU. It is probably not GPU. Is probably in your settings. Try a completely fresh mame install.
You can also just delete mame.ini, then run "mame.exe -cc" from command lineto create a new default. Don't forget to run VMMaker again (just open/close the edit settings window) so it updates your mame.ini with your monitor settings.
I still run GM v0.251 on E8500 and it runs most games effortlessly, have even OC'd a E8600 somewhat to run Gauntlet legends without dropping frames, at least in early stages. They are both better for mame than the Q9550 IMO, and you can probably likely swap them out to use the same mainboard. Iknow iknow 4x seems better than 2x but Mame runs mostly as a single core process so quad-core gives no real benefit over duo, just sucks more power.

Hmm interesting, I have 3 GM builds all using the same GPU and all do slight random stutters. I'll play around a bit more as I really don't want to spend anymore money if I can help it. Thanks

I'm confused, same GPU or exact same single video card?
Worth investigating if the glitch occurs with vanilla mame, and/or without the card(s) installed

Hi , same gpu model number, i have 3 of these in 3 different builds.
I run vanilla mame on a I7 3770 and a RTX 4060 and it runs perfectly (another computer I have i use for 31khz).
I've always thought it might be the software so I'll have a mess around reinstalling the mame.ini.
Thanks
