I apologize but when I created this topic I forgot about the question mark in the title.
I ask the users of the forum if they know, in addition to these listed, other frontends for windows (or cross-platform) that are still being actively developed.
thank you all for your cooperation!

Mameui64 my fave has ended support so stuck on older version for now. I guess the sources are available so could build it myself with newer mame database?

i think that MAMEUI is a very poor integrated frontend

Its fairly basic but can be fully controlled via joystick so works well for me in my cab but lacks the fancy look from something like arcade coinops.
I suppose now i got more CPU power in the cab i could try a fancier front end.

attract mode still has a forum with some activity.
plenty of themes.
I think the dev took a break because honestly i don't where else he could take the Front end.

Attract Mode really is very powerful. Setup is simple, you can use it almost straight away. It comes with very useful game filtering options to help you make good games lists. The default layouts will be fine for most setups. There is an online visual layout editing tool, you can tweak the layouts provided and/or make some very cool customisations.
To get the best out of it, good to have some experience in (or ability to learn) simple object-oriented programming.
One thing I was worried about with Attract Mode was finding good layouts for CRTs. However, that ultimately isn't a big issue as the layouts it scale to whatever screen resolution you are using. I still found myself tweaking and customising layouts to accommodate things like CRT TV overscan, but it was much less trouble than I initially thought.
I'm also impressed that Attract Mode handles pretty much any media file I throw at it, unlike some other front ends.
LaunchBox is neat, and I use it for my old DOS games n such, but doesn't feel right for arcade cab. :dunno

There's a FE called pfeMAME. I've never used it but I guess it can be added to the list
