Title: Help Hantarex MTC9110
Post by: fmilos on February 23, 2004, 02:53:12 pm
Hi everybody... It's my first time on the forum so please excuse my bad english and any unwanted off-topic discussion.

I'm Fabio from Italy and I'm writing because I need help on a strange problem: my monitor has a strange behaviour, because the first, say, twenty lines of the picture are missing the black scanline between them (they are "compressed"), thus making a weird display.
If I increase the contrast the problem worsens: when the NeoGeo logo flips and changes from black to white (I mean the NeoGeo "splash screen") nearly a third of the screen has no scanlines!

I'm using a Matrox Mystique + mame .37b15; colour depth is limited to 8 bpp and monitor type is set to "arcade".

Has anybody of you a clue on this?

Do you reckon a cap kit may help? If so, can you tell me where to get one? Maybe Hantarex in Italy... Google hasn't been helpful on this so far.

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Fabio

Hantarex is headquartered in England. Here is their website: www.hantarex.co.uk

I'm sure someone in their "tech support" department may be able to help.

Hello Ken and thanks for your reply; I wrote an email to Hantarex England and they routed me to Hantarex Italy; the latter's answer sounds more or less like this: "The model of the monitor is discontinued, no spare parts, no manuals, no support, sorry".

I hope someone from the forum can help...

Fabio

I'd say installing a capkit would be the first place to start and then see how it looks. Hantarex is well known for needing lots of capacitors. Bob Roberts and Zanen Electronics have kits for most Hantarex models but I don't know if they have any for that model. I had to make up my own kit for a Hantarex and I used my capacitor tester to find all the bad ones (this chassis had 30 bad ones!).

On ebay (USA) I often see Hantarex service manuals. Also, www.mikesarcade.com has all types of monitor service manuals you can download free and your monitor is listed.

Ya, I have the same problem. Some resolutions look fine (Like bombjack), others look as you describe.  I see someone else has the same problem ->

If the cap kit works, can you let me know?

Yes, but I'm not planning to do it in a short while... Email me if you like.
