I'm thinking of naming my still-in-progress cab "non-cents" for two reasons:
1. My fiance thought the whole idea was non-sense when I told her about it.
2. This cabinet won't take your quarters.
I like the cartoonishy look from this thread:

I really want to get rid of the generic mame marquee and maybe incoorporate the red, blue, green, and yellow from the neo-geo button layout.

want a space theme?

That looks great! The sky looks fairly real, where the planet is cartoony.
That would make a great marquee. It would be great if we could have a marquee background section. Then people could have something to start with.

The planet is from space invaders
-
I thought that looked familiar, but I couldn't place it.

Kids these days. ;)
'course I couldn't tell you a single character from the latest "Super Warrio Kick Fighter" though either. :D

fredster, that planet background is awesome! What format(s) do you have it in? I only have photoshop (and only know how to use photoshop), but I might have illustrator at work (but have no idea how to use it). If you have it in a photoshop format, I could play around with the lettering.
Thank for the reply!

I took fredster's background and added some text to it. I thought the green would give a space/alien feel, what do you guys think?
One thing I couldn't figure out was how to wrap the text around the planet. I tried the layer-> type -> warp text, but that just gives me a circle instead of the oval shape of the planet.
-
I figured out how to "morph" the text a little bit and tried a different color? Any suggestions?

I AGREE 100%!!!

In Illustrator you can draw a line and add text to that line. Not sure if that will work with your text as it is now modified.

I have the file in Adobe Photoshop with a psd extension
Here's what I did with the text...

fredster, I really like the cartoony look! I appreciate your work! I found fusion's marquee and loved the background! How does this one look?
Edit: The image lost a lot of detail when down sampling. It looks a lot better at full scale.
Editted again: Took a screen shot and it saved some more quality...this is more what it looks like.

My arcade is getting closer to completion and I decided to keep the name simple with "Dave's Arcade." How does this marquee look?
It's not vector right now, because I couldn't find a high resolution picture of the background...so I'm not sure how it will print.

That's super-sweet! Can do you that one for me, using that font, without morphing the text, and have it say 'arcade classics' instead, in all caps? 23.75" x 7.5"?

Peale, Check your PM.

After a suggestion in the project announcement thread, I changed the background of my marquee to black & white to match my control panel.
