Will smoked plexiglass over a TV screen cause a lightgun (http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/hardware/zapperfam.jpg) to malfunction? Maybe? Possibly? Anyone with hands-on experience?

I'm curious myself if anyone can confirm, as I am debating adding plexi in front of a PC monitor on the cab I'm designing, since I'm going to use the Act-Labs gun. I've heard that it can throw off calibration, making them less accurate... however to make them malfunction totally I'd be surprised, i guess it would depend on how dark the plexi really is...

I cant' answer you definately... but it wont work as well.
I had to turn the brightness up on one of my monitors to get it to work with it...

I've got 2 act-lab guns with 1/8" smoked plexi which I picked up from Menards (slight brown tint if that matters). I noticed no difference between my setup with the plexi and without it. You might just need to recalibrate the guns once you have the plexi installed.

Thanks for the replies, guys. What about transparent plexiglass? I would imagine it is possible that the signal is a bit dilluted.

But what about these (http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/hardware/zapperfam.jpg)? They can't be recalibrated. I suppose monitor settings are all that will help with those (http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/hardware/zapperfam.jpg).
