In my ongoing struggles to get my upgraded arcade cabinet running, I managed to get my joystick ID situation worked out, but when I went to install my Aimtrak lightguns, things got screwed up again. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but as I installed each of my two guns, it pushed the controller IDs of each of my UltraStiks up by 1 (so controller 1 became controller 3, and controller 2 became controller 4). The IDs didn't change in UltraMap or under Windows USB devices -- but they did within Hyperspin and my emulators.
I tried changing the lightgun IDs in the AimTrak software, but that didn't make any difference. If I unplug both lightguns, my UltraStiks go back to their proper IDs.
Has anyone else run into this? If so, how did you solf it?

Its caused by windows reassigning the controller ID's.
Look in the lightgun forum this has been covered many times :)
-
Oops, my bad.
I don't want to be "that guy" who continues a thread in the wrong forum, but it seems that my lightgun issue (as well as the other post I made that probably doesn't belong in this forum on my Joystick 1 and 2 swapping) have to do with Windows USB remapping.
Given that, is the Lightgun forum still the best place to look for answers, or a different forum? If you have any advice on search terms, that would be great, as I'm struggling to find a post with the solution. I thought ControllerRemap might be what I was looking for, but that appears to be MAME specific and I need my Joystick IDs to be stable for all of my emulators.
Thanks!

I use Tur to fix my ID’s so I would start with that :)
-
Somehow I figured out the combination of IDs to assign within the Ultimarc mapping and Aimtrak software to get the controllers to fall into order. Stick 1 is labeled Stick 2, Stick 2 is labeled Stick 3, Gun 1 is labeled gun 3, and Gun 2 is labeled gun 4.
I still snagged Tur, though, because I'd prefer to have everything labeled properly. Thanks a ton for your help!

Not really young, to be honest.
Searching google for tur leads me to all sort of places but not anything related to windows usb ids.
Can you provide a link, please?

Thank you, seems like a good program to have.
I wonder how well it works with hardware that shares the same hw id.

I couldn't tell from the documentation (and I haven't installed it yet - busy weekend), so could someone tell me if Tur is a "run once" program or if it's something I need to put in my Windows Start-up?

Needs to go in your start up.

I know that you didn't think your lot in life was to be my personal tech support, but I have an additional question ;)
I created a shortcut to Tur and put it in my startup. Unfortunately, it does not run (so my controllers are all out of order). If I go into the start-up folder and click on the shortcut, it rearranges my controllers as I set them up. Did you have to do anything special to get Tur to run on startup for your system?

How strange, No I just dropped it in my start up folder.
Which OS are you running?
I did it with out any issues on Windows 7, Not sure if there is some special protocol you have to do to get it to work in 8+?

I'm running Windows 10 (I "upgraded" my cabinet from Windows 7 when I did all the hardware upgrades). I have the .exe set to run as administrator and I set the shortcut to run as administrator. I tried moving the .ini file to the startup folder (which just opens it up in Wordpad when you restart). I also deleted the .ini from the Tur folder to see if that would have any effect.
Long story, short: Nothing I did will have Tur run at startup, yet when I click on the shortcut IN THE STARTUP FOLDER, it runs.
I'm really perplexed... If I can't get it to launch as part of my Windows startup, I'll have to see if I get get to launch as part of HyperSpin's startup. The program does exactly what it's supposed to do -- so I owe you a big debt for that -- I just would love for it to run on startup.

I actually tried that very page before posting here, as I didn't want to be accused of having weak Google-Fu. :)

Didnt work then?

Unfortunately, no. I saw another webpage that had 8 or 10 increasing complex suggestions. I tried the first 5 to no avail. My hope was that with your experience with Tur, you might have encountered something similar.
I honestly don't expect you to try to solve this for me, and I really appreciate all the help you've offered so far. Thanks!

Good luck mate.
I would of stuck on Windows 7 tbh lol

In hindsight, that might have been the best decision -- but I was replacing my boot drive with a SSDD and wanted to do a clean OS install. On the plus side, my cabinet boots almost instantly. On the minus side are the myriad headaches that my "new and improved" OS are causing me.

Does anyone have a copy of TUR? The Hyperspin site is down. :dunno

Hi All TUR works if i start my cab from Power On Power OFF, but not if i start my cab from Hybernation.
