Title: Help! can't open MAME64

After installing a new Nvidia GT 710 2gb graphics card, when I try to run Mame, it hangs with a black screen and spinning circle.
It's like it just hangs indefinitely.
Windows 7 Home
3.2gh pentium dual core processor
4gb RAM
SSD drive

So I ran mame64 via cmd and it opens from there. However, I still can't get it to run from the mame64 icon. huh?
I tried ever video option in setup but nothing made any difference. Still getting black screen with spinning circle. This is driving me batty. Why on earth?
