I've been reading up on AdvanceMAME, and I still don't see how it can be done. I need to set up a standard arcade monitor on a PC without an ArcadeVGA. Can it be done without having to wait to switch on the monitor after the 'vga' command is run in the autoexec.bat file?
I am trying to set this thing up as a DOS-based system.
Can Scitech Display Doctor change the 'boot mode' to use a 15khz signal? Is there some other way to do this?

I originally ran advancemame on an arcade monitor--I used to start both the pc and the monitor at the same time--there was some garbage on the screen for a second or two (bios screens) but then once the 15khz driver flicked on it was good. for some good instructions go here: http://www.mame.how.to/

I'm not too worried about the appearance of the garbage, I'm just wondering if this will be harmful to the monitor.

I was told that overtime it would wear on some components but only slightly more than having a stable signal--from then on, I just left it off until I heard an audio cue I had inserted when the 15khz program had started. Not a big deal either way.
