Hey all,
Question(s) for you Sega CD experts out there...
I think Gens supports the Sega CD, but how would you boot them?
Are there seperate BIOS images that Gens needs to find before the CD's can load? Am I using the wrong emulator? Can my computer even read Sega CD games, or do I need to find Roms on the Web?
Thanks!

You need to find the Sega CD BIOS Roms (search & they shouldn't be hard to find). Point to these in your Gens config menu, and you can boot the real CD's from your CD-ROM drive :)

Wooo Hoo!!!! Success!!!! Just played Third World War for the first time in about 8 years!!!!
Thanks much Minwah!!! ;D

If you want, you can run a SegaCD game off the hd. ;) Just rip the data track as an iso image and any seperate audio tracks as mp3. You can name the iso whatever you want, but the mp3s need to have the track number added to the end.
Example
Third World War.iso
Third World War02.mp3
Third World War03.mp3
Then, just call the iso image like you would a genesis rom and Gens will automatically load the audio. ;D
If the game only has 1 audio track, it is most likely a "do not use this cd in a audio cd player" warning, which you do not need. :P

Wow, that's a great tip!
That might help my speed lag. The games do run noticeably slower than they do in my Sega CD. Then again, it might just be my computer.
I'm gonna try this today after work. Got all weekend to fool with it....can't wait!!!
Thanks for all the help guys!!!

I played Silpheed a few times using the real disc (had to buy it again on ebay, sold mine with the MegaCD years ago :( ) and the speed was fine...I guess it depends on the speed of your CD-drive too, then again the MegaCD only had 1 or 2x I think...

Running from the hd should help big time! ;D I am not sure why that is? The speed of my cd drive has little effect.
If possible, try to run in "Perfect Synchro" mode. ;)

Well, let me give you a small idea of what I have. This is my dedicated console emulation machine...
AMD K-6 II 500 mhz. Tried overclocking it...that really only gets me to about 533, so I gave it up.
64MB Ram
10GB HD
Not sure what the FSB is.
Soundblaster 16, I think
24X CD-ROM, not a burner though.
Not sure what the video card is.
I have MESS, Gens, MagicEngine, WinUAE (Amiga, the best computer ever made!!!), Stella, Project Tempest (for development, doesn't emulate too much yet), and Hu-Go.
Everything works well except for the Sega CD part of Gens, but it's not too bad, and Project Tempest, and I know that my computer doesn't have enough sauce to run that.
You guys are the best, thanks again! :)
