Hi,
I've heard warnings about "jerkiness" with Daphne games running Windows 98.
I'm thinking about Windows 98 as an OS in my cabinet, but really love the Daphne games and want them to perform flawlessly.
Please help.
Thanks,
Jason

It plays well... not as good as on XP... I have a 2ghz athlon and they run great.
but take note. once upgrading. you will want to reencode/convert the mpgs of your dvd version. This does seem to have a lot more to do with it. my first conversion kinda sucked. Then when I got a faster computer I did it again (because I was also doing spaceace... and a few othre reasons) and I got MUCH better results.

They seem to run fine on my 1.6ghz Duron under Win98SE.

I'm running an Athlon XP at 2200+ under 98se. It's pretty good, but not flawless. I notice some jerkiness, but it doesn't affect game play.
Now that analog+ can do multiple mice in WinXP, I have no reason to stay with 98se (other than I don't own a copy of XP yet). I'm looking forward to better Daphne video.
YMMV,
Rocky

The jerkiness of the video isn't the major issue. It's the fact that the jerkiness offsets the timing slightly, thus making the game play slightly off. It's only by maybe a fraction of a second, but as these games are VERY timing dependant that can make all the difference in the world. The games are playable in 98, they are just 10 times harder to due timing issues. The faster your machine, the less you'll notice this though.

Thanks.

I've experienced this jerkiness. My Windows 98 PC has a 900 MHz processor + ArcadeVGA card. Daphne games look ugly with the jerkiness and are unplayable.
I can run it with no jerkiness on other PCs which have XP, I have one running a 1.5 GHz processor+Geforce 2 Ultra and one running 1.2 or so GHz + Geforce2 MX, both run fine.
What processor and video card are you planning to run?
