Title: blank screen when playing 1941
Post by: papaschtroumpf on January 25, 2004, 10:31:16 pm
I want to play more PC games in my cab in addition to mame games. I swapped out the ATI AIW Rage Pro card that was in my cab for an NVidia GeForce 4 Ti4600.
When I tried to play 1941, I here the monitor "click" that way ot does when it changes resolution but the screen is entirely blank. I hear the sound and can "play" the game blind.
When I exit mame reports a frame rate of 60fps, I just couldn't see anything.

Any idea on how to fix it? I have the latest NVidia drivers and I have played 1941 with the same video card in a different system (both running XP but different driver revs, mobos, monitors, ...)

I had the same problem.  I assume this is on a PC monitor?

What did I do...turn off artwork...turn off hardware stretching...I think that did it.  Play with those things a bit.

yeah sounds like the game is calling a resolution out of your monitors range--you could try setting it manually in an ini file (i've never had to do that on a pc monitor so I couldn't tell you how its done)

well, that did it but I'm not sure why or how. -nohwstretch did the trick but it looks to narrow so I kept playing with settings both of the ini file and the graphic card and monitor and it suddenly  started working, but I'm not exactly sure which setting did it...
