Title: error code on start up of mame

Hi all, desperately need help... on starting my built arcade cabinet as soon as I try to go into mame games it comes up with ERROR READING GAMES LIST FILE.  I am completely computer illiterate so please bear with me. A friend tried helping, he has got into the report file and it reads ERROR; OBJECT CLASS: TFrmMain,object function: loadgamelist, Exception classEFOpenError.
Any ideas anyone? i'm lost but any help would be very appreciated,

This sounds like an error from your front end, not from MAME.  Are you using Mala?
